They have too much money but great idea.

Give it 5 years, the amount of money they have now may seem small in comparison.

OT. Nice idea.

What exactly are you refering too?  Are you saying that this idea will wind up being a huge money maker?

Obviously not.  I'm referring to just cloud revenue (azure etc) that will be bigger than total current revenue within 5 years or so.

Except noone gives a fuck about azure. AWS is and will contue to be the best cloud solution.

So now we will have data on the waves and not cloud, seems interesting.

Other than expressing your hate toward Microsoft, what you just said makes no sense what so ever. At least not in 2016...

AWS and Azure and equivalent and offers the exact same services. Only difference is that AWS is leading because they were here before.
And based on latest numbers from the industry (including Microsoft's results), a lot of people give a lot of fuck about Azure.

Both services are great (I'm using both).

Cooling is a major issue and costs of cooling are high.
Why not place them deep down in the cold ocean? makes sense to me.

... Actually I would not be surprise if this become a thing ...

The thing is there is still an environmental impact even though you are saving money. There is always a trade off. With electric cars you are trading the carbon footprint for heavy metals. And here we are potentially heating up sections of ocean, this is if it catches on, that will have an effect on the marine life and weather.

It is a cool concept though, I just felt like being the devil's advocate here.

If MS idea is well implemented yes I see it as a very possible endeavor, not only ocean, but even in rivers depending of the density of population around there and distance from shoreline

Electronics and Salt Water always sound like a bad idea. But why not in little sealed things. Seems like they have it figured out.

Plus probably fairly safe from sabotage.

Really not sure I see any point of Consol over PC's since Kinect, Wii and other alternative ways to play have been abandoned.

Tell me a funny joke!

One can certainly sea why Microsoft is doing this.
