The thing is there is still an environmental impact even though you are saving money. There is always a trade off. With electric cars you are trading the carbon footprint for heavy metals. And here we are potentially heating up sections of ocean, this is if it catches on, that will have an effect on the marine life and weather.
It is a cool concept though, I just felt like being the devil's advocate here.
