Sony has been doing a lot of rebooting. They did Total Recall, Equaliser, Robocop, Jump Street and now this. Looks like they are fishing for a big classic that has a big fan base from back in the days that could bring them big money. So far, it looks like they have failed.
Also, what if they choose Bieber to take the role of the Goblin King?!

We dont know if the deal was being done before Bowies death though do we? Many films take ages to sign on the dotted line... so it might not be cashing in at all.
The original movie was awesome and thats why it's considered a cult classic. Fantastic sound track and pretty great movie.

Yeah. Sounds about right. A few years ago that prospect might have filled me with hope, but in a post Alice in Wonderland world, this can only end up bad.
Why mess with perfection? The movie holds up really well, too!
