Forums - Nintendo Discussion - the Wii U is not getting replaced this year, guys

Exactly. and why even bother throwing emotion into it? The supposed salty people who claim they won't get an NX if this happens...I doubt it. Plus, the benefit of the extra sales / better NX launch would far outweigh the supposed backlash

I don't really get it either tbh I'm a Nintendo fan but can see why it makes business sense for Zelda to be cross gen  as well as understand why the sign can indicate an NX release this year as well. I also want to know the thingking behind this whole exclusive Zelda logic people are throwing around here, an NX version of Zelda U doesn't make the Wii U any less of a console in fact despite its sales it's one of the most enjoyable consoles ever made and still will have a number of games you cannot get anywhere.

The same reason people feel its so important that the game gets a duel release. It really isn't all that important. I also think "big chance" is a bit exaggerated.

With dual release game will certainly sell few millions more than on Wii U alone, and definitely will effect on NX launch. Basically two things from Nintendo will profit in big way, it clear business sense, and basically dont have one negative thing doing that, also we already saw something similar with TP.

Few millions more? You are again over exaggerating with nothing that would support this statement.

For most wiiu users the console already got replaced, by a Xbox or ps4.
Just sayin

That's where I like to play all my Nintendo IP. Oh wait...

nintendo has an obligation to everybody who supported their console to supply it with a zelda that is exclusive. from a business perspective, you dont want to completely burn your bridges. it isnt intelligent.

Nintendo isn't obligated to do shit. If they wanted to they could cancel Zelda U & put the series on an indefinite hiatus and there would be nothing u or anyone else could do about it.

Guess what? 2D Mario is a far more popular franchise than Zelda and neither N64 nor GameCube received an exclusive entry, they didn't even receive ports/remasters, the series took an 18 year hiatus on consoles. Metroid skipped N64 and had 8 years between Super & Prime. Kid I cards was dormant for 21 years. Pikmin went 9 years between 2 & 3. Luigi's Mansion went 12 years without a sequel. Pilotwings went 15 Yeats between releases. Star Fox Zero is the first in 10 years. Punch-Out went 15 years. F-Zero hasn't gotten a new release in over a decade. The list goes on.

Nintendo can do whatever they want and a few people bitching on the Internet aren't going to stop them from doing what they think is best for their business.

And its these exact business decisions and lack of caring for what the fans wanted that got them where they are now. It's time to stop pissing their fans off wouldn't you say?

Being more of a liability in pissing off the Nintendo fans they have left outweighing the negligible profits they will recieve.

If you don't think customer satisfaction is important, you're fooling yourself.

http://www.vgchartz.com/gamedb/?name=zelda&publisher=&platform=&genre=&minSales=0&results=200

  • 1998: Ocarina of Time = 7.60m (after gaining cult status as "best game ever" and the first 3D-Zeda
  • 2000: Majora's Mask = 3.36m (1 platform)
  • 2002: Wind Waker = 4.60m (1 platform)
  • 2006: Twilight Princess = 8.84m (2 platforms)
  • 2011: Skyward Sword = 4.05m (1 platform)

It seems to me that the 2 platform strategy of TP paid off, it helped to sell a few millions more than MM, WW or SS. I really doubt that it would have reached even 5 million on GameCube only.

Nintendo fans aren't a single collective sum of people who all want the same thing. The people who complain on the Internet are a very small minority.

Based on the vocal forum goers, u would think Metroid was one of the most popular series ever but it's super fucking niche. The series averages 1-2 million per game, that's worse than Mario Party, a series that is often hated on.

Games like Tomodachi Life and Happy Home Designer were talked about on forums as if they were going to bomb yet they are multimillion selling games, games like Bayonetta 2 & Xenoblade X were talked as game of the year material yet both are very niche.

This kinda shows that the vocal forum goers are not the typical Nintendo audience.

Thank you lol I get really annoyed when people think everything should be catered to their specific desires.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Its said that the portable is releasing this year and the Wii U will be replaced next year. All together it should cost about $400 for the whole bundle. Its also said that the NX will be 900p so the PS4 will remain the most powerful console.
