Forums - Movies & TV - The Force Awakens sucks! *MAJOR SPOILERS*

I liked it quite a bit and can't wait for Episode VIII.

Main flaw for me was that it was way too similar to Episode IV, and the pacing was a little too fast. Felt like they never had time to breathe.

But all in all, it is one heck of a movie, and a good refresh for a new generation of Star Wars movies. I really enjoyed Rey and can't wait to see her grow.

Kylo Ren can rot in hell. I expect a really, really painful death. The writers better deliver on that end!

I agree with everything you said, even your exact ranking of the films.

As a Star Wars fan, this was a very depressing watch. Luke literally didn't say a word, Han Solo died and Leia, well... just said a few words. To top it off, Darth Vader has been replaced by a brat exceeding Anakin Skywalker in childish behavior. The movie is soulless on all levels, but of course people will feel obligated to praise it and its weak story since Lucas wasn't behind it.

If Lucas did make this atrocious film, on the other hand, I am confident that people would lose their minds, and reviews would hit rock-bottom.

Can you share an opinion in which you don't attack other people for not thinking like you do?

Not everybody is bashing everything Lucas has done to the franchise. You can obviously see the love for A New Hope and not a bad reception for Revenge of the Sith. But you can see that The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones are on the bottom of many lists. It's not because they're Lucas films, it's because people widely regarded them as the worst of the franchise (me included). And I honestly think that their quality leaves a lot to be desired.

We are in agreement, then. Prior to this movie Episode I and II were at the bottom of my list as well. Still, it is my belief that people would tear this movie apart if Lucas was behind it.

The villain alone would make sure of that.

This is not the movie we need but the movie we deserve... or vice versa.

It's not perfect but it's good enough.

In my mind I have a lot of changes that would make TFW better to me.

Well, I can't talk about anybody else, that's for sure. I honestly think that the quality of the movie is vastly superior to Episode I/II, and I can't see myself thinking otherwise. But I don't think it's about Lucas, since I enjoyed A New Hope and Revenge of the Sith a lot.

About the villain, as see it as a welcome change to the Star-Wars typical villain, over-powerful and badass as hell. I think troubled, conflicted villains work better in any movie. At least I find that more engaging.

I agree with your points, but Attack of Clones was the worst.

Overall disappointing, but nice setup for a good sequel or finale.

I agree with your assessment, except there have been worse Star Wars movies than this. But overall yes, too much was taken for granted as far as the back-story was concerned about the Republic and the First Order and such. To be honest, I also didn't care for any of the comedy (or the characters, for that matter.) A lot of the plot and character development was taken for granted, and the camaraderie was definitely unwarranted considering how long everyone knew each other.

It wasn't a terrible film, but it shares similar pitfalls with the new Star Trek films where they focus on spectacle over substance. The most significantly characterized character in this movie was Kylo Ren and that was a problem considering his screen time compared to the others. I wouldn't care to watch this movie again in theatres, but I'd watch it again before I watched Attack of the Clones, that's for sure.

meh, finally watched it today. Not as good as the original 3, but certainly no where near as bad as the prequels. My experience was slightly tainted by having to watch it in 3D (not sure if I am glad that that particular fad is fading fast or annoyed as it is hard to get a seat in a normal screening while 3D sessions are less than a 3rd full.). Story was highly predictable and seemed to be just a bad rehash of some of the originals but the action was decent, the dialogue not as cringeworthy as what lucas produces but still not exactly the best movie of the year.
