Did I say they did? You're in defense mode, chill out.

I'm explaining why people may not know PS4 charges for online play. Many have/had the presumption only MS is charging for online play. Why? PS3 was free.

Lol are you joking or something? You're the one who is starting all this crap by saying Sony did this too and they got away with it. You're just trying to start something.

No, I'm saying there was a presumption online play was still free on PS4 and people are still finding out that isn't the case.

Its not like Sony went out of their way to let people know that changed. I'm not saying Sony should have either.

You mean greatest trophy, right? :P

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

If you're saying Sony doesn't need to advertise online play, what is the point of even talking about it? What is the point of you bringing it up?

"There is only one race, the pathetic begging race"

The real achievement was MS getting away with what they offered for XBL for over 10yrs. It took Sony doing PS+ to get MS to start throwing in games with their service.

On another note the reason Sony got away with it was cause PS+ started off as a discount and free games thing. It justifies its value and relevance long before the PS4. The just added playing online to it. Personally,I still think playing online should be free, unless of course every ps4/xb1 game runs on dedicated servers. which they don't.

This only proves Sony has no originality. They copied the PayWall idea from Microsoft. It ruined my non-existent online gaming.

Where is the Social Justice Warriors when you need them?!

Getting away in relative terms, just like microsoft only had half or less of the userbase with gold. But those that pay for it incentivate it.
I have never payed for gold or ps+. I never will. I'm ok with not having online play on console when i have it on the PC for free. Seriously, we already pay for the internet acess. Extra subscriptions on to let you use what you already pay for is redundant. I am fine in paying it for the individual game so it gets good content support, but not for acessing a network. And trying to lure me in with the promise of random rented titles doesnt work either.

I think all paying for those are doing a disservice to the whole gaming community, but to each their own. I guess its also the reason why DLC is insanely overpriced.

Funny how the same people who complained about M$ putting online multiplayer and other features behind a paywall since day 1 with XBL have absolutely no issues with Sony now doing the same with PSN this generation because "free games"... even though you don't actually OWN the games, it's just a glorified rental system for as long as you have a PS+ subscription. Meanwhile, "Games With Gold" games on XBL actually are free to own even after you let your Gold subscription expire, so you don't have to purchase them outright like you do on PSN if you're not a subscriber, thereby negating any perceived advantage of PS+ over XBL.

Also, the other big criticism leveled at M$ and the X1 at the beginning of this generation was the whole DRM / "always online" fiasco, which of course Sony PR took full advantage of despite the fact that it never actually came to fruition on the X1 as it was originally intended. However... the "always online" thing has since reared its head in other ways in the fact that now certain games, such as one of the biggest titles released thus far this generation - Destiny, can only be played when an online connection is present, even if you only want to play single player modes.

Once again, the same folks who raged over M$'s proposed always online DRM had absolutely no issue with Bungie effectively doing the very same thing, and Destiny was one the biggest titles on PS4 over the past year and helped move a ton of consoles despite the fact that if you didn't have an online subscription you effectively just bought yourself a $60 coaster.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

I'm not sure about greatest but it's definitely up there ...

Well, I realize I am only one person, but I certainly wasn't pleased when it was announced, and I've never played online on PS3/PS4, I did have PS+ on PS3 also.  So, not 'everyone' has 'no issue'.

Again and hopefully for the last time. The person I responded to seemed surprised not everybody knew/knows Sony charages for online play on PS4.

Its not like Sony went out of their way to let people know about this change. Therefore people have bought a PS4 not knowing online play is now a pay service.

You simply missed the point, no big deal.
