Forums - Gaming Discussion - [Review thread] Star Wars: Battlefront

Can't look at this game and be depressed about the lack of single player, with the scale and what's available it would've been EPIC. I would've bought it for the campaign alone.

There's only 2 races: White and 'Political Agenda'
2 Genders: Male and 'Political Agenda'
2 Hairstyles for female characters: Long and 'Political Agenda'
2 Sexualities: Straight and 'Political Agenda'

Oh. It's hitting mixed scores. Still gonna sell massively but they aren't hitting that 13 million that are hoping for with scores like these. Day one buyers then it'll keel over and die.

I think you underestimate the casual gamer.

I can see this being No.1 on the list of games gifted to people this holiday and beyond.Every kid who watches and loves the star wars film or star wars in general will want this.

The Teen rating will help with that. Parents know star wars, they know there will be no gore. No naughty language. They see the teen rating. They think this looks pretty cool. Oh split screen, maybe I can play this with my kids. Buy game for kids (and secretly themselves).

psn- tokila

add me, the more the merrier.

Hopefully game companies will STOP with the idea that gutting SP is a smart move for an expensive AAA title. It only gets more aggravating when the MP modes are limited and the depth just isn't there. It's like they were so afraid of people comparing the game to the Battlefield series that they went way overboard in arcade/casualizing the thing.

It's great to have arcade/simple modes for MP, but i think if they added really distinct classes, more weapons/abilities/vehicles/objectives/modes it would have been far smarter.

It could still sell gigantic from the IP, but personally I'm disappointed and have been since the reveals in everything but graphics.

A1 number 1 problem is still the stupid decision to go ahead with no SP though, imho.

I have no choice but to buy this game as it comes with the limited Star Wars PS4. I'll be trading it in after a week or 2 and putting that towards JC3 or the onslaught of games we will be facing next year.

Well i kinda expected this. I'd rather have a new Star wars game, than this Battlefield 4 multiplayer skin....

I know this has already been said, but I'm a huge Battlefield player from the very first game until now (probably 20,000+ hours across the series or more) ..  but Battlefront is absolutely nothing like a Battlefield game.

It's simplified to the point of being ludicrous. There is no depth, the map sizes are miniscule, there are only a tiny number of weapons, you don't have the distinct classes that need to work together, etc.

In terms of looking like a spastic classic Star Wars battle, it achieves that pretty well. It's far closer to COD than Battlefield imho, but even COD is complex and deep compared to Battlefront.

Personally, I would love a Star Wars Battlefield game/expansion. But this is certainly not it.

Heh, I predicted much higher. Seems it's just fall 2014 all over again, where a lot of the highly anticipated third party games ends with disappointment and/or full of bugs.

Well they had to do something to make a "new" battle(instert new title here) game. So instead of making this like a new DLC and charge something like 19.90, EA decided to make a new game (like Hardline which could also be a dlc aswell) and charge full price. Yeah i get why EA get the prize for the worst game company every year

Looks like Halo 5 is the best fps this year going by reviews.

From OP: Gamespot:

If nothing else, Star Wars Battlefront is an exercise in pure spectacle, laid out in all of its neon glory. I can't help but smile when the Boba Fett guns down three fighters in a row from his Slave I ship, or a snowspeeder careens past with flames trailing in its wake. The first 10 hours are packed with these moments, and it's worth playing just to watch them unfold.

But Battlefront doesn't go much deeper than its ambitious surface appeal. It front loads its best content, only to fade in quality as the hours roll by. Star Wars Battlefront's skin is beautiful, but its legs are shaking, and threaten to buckle with time.

OT: Exactly as I predicted... I see no reason to buy this game for more then $20.

So far the scores are expected. Lazy productions should always be punished in reviews, but I look forward to getting the game far down the line.
