“This was due entirely to [Xbox One and PlayStation 4] generation sales, which rose by 12 percent to offset the 66 percent decrease in hardware sales for last generation consoles.”

So if last years October NPD is

PS4: 297k
XBO: 168k

12%

= 520.8k

and XBO is 304k so PS4 is 216.8k?

because if you increase October 2014 PS4 numbers by 12% it beats XBO.

What I bolded in your post: this gen's numbers, not just PS4 and XB1. This gen = PS4, XB1, Wii U, Vita and 3DS. Those are all current generation consoles.

and last year, according to the VGC npd thread, sales were 297000 for PS4, 168000 for X1 and 69000 for WiiU.

Correct me if Im wrong but these numbers are pretty dam lackluster arent them ? I mean ppl were expecting both PS4 and XOne to be in 400k range werent they ?

XB1 won because PS4 did shit, not because XB1 did great.

Saying the ps4 didn't do anything is going to far. It had the price cut and Nathan drake bundle plus ACS marketing. And x1 had halo and a rush sail for kinect.

What I bolded in your post: this gen's numbers, not just PS4 and XB1. This gen = PS4, XB1, Wii U, Vita and 3DS. Those are all current generation consoles.

If that's true, then [PS4+XB1+WiiU] > 12%.

It's safe to assume 3DS is down YoY, considering what released last year (Smash for 3DS, Fantasy Life) > this year (Chibi Robo, Legend of Legacy)
