Forums - Sales Discussion - Official Game Sales Announcements Thread

Okay, so I don't know if this is recent enough, but The Last of Us. It was confirmed past 7 million (PS3 version alone)
source: http://m.ign.com/articles/2014/07/16/the-last-of-us-sales-pass-7-million-with-new-dlc-coming
as of 16th of july 2014. VGC had it at about 4.7 milion at the time (source: https://web.archive.org/web/20140718202532/http://www.vgchartz.com/game/70350/the-last-of-us/ )

If we are to assume about 700k of them are digital (so roughly 10%), that would still leave us with 1.6 million copies on shelves, which I don't believe for a year old game who's remaster was releasing a few weeks after.

I dunno if this is worthy, just gonna make a post in this thread to highlight the first one that comes to mind.

Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment (Vita) got a sales breakdown in January this year:

http://gematsu.com/2015/01/sword-art-online-lost-song-developed-artdink

Hollow Fragment sold a total of 450,000 units worldwide. In Japan, sales were about 280,000. In Asia, 90,000. And in North America, the game sold about 70,000 units.

All of those regions will include digital sales, and NA figures are digital-only.

I'm highlighting this because of the 90,000 sales in Asia number.  We have 0 sales for "rest of the world" for this game and it got a physical release in Asia

I dunno how you'd go breaking that down into physical/digital - I don't even know if you track Asian sales, I just thought I'd bring it up.

Will this be stickied, or do you think there will be enough post to keep this on the Hot Topics?

Tagging regardless :p

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Nope, I got nowt.  Only really follow Vita sales though, of which there's very little news out there.

Just gonna share the only other one I can think of in a separate post because you seem to be linking them separately :P

Demon Gaze shipped 200k copies by July 2014.  We have 143k sold by the end of 2014 (so an extra 6 months on that date).

Seems a bit undertracked or there are a lot of copies on shelves and it's got a good digital ratio.  May be nothing there though because we're dealing with such small numbers.

Anyway, gonna keep a close eye on this thread, good initiative Machina.

Dying Light sold 5M+ on PS4, Xbox One and PC as of the 13th August 2015.
VGChartz has all 3 versions at 1.6M. Of course there are digital sales, but I don't think that they are so huge!

Tagging. I'll look around Nintendo titles tonight.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

Nice thread!:P Is it only for software, or we can post about inaccuracies in hardware numbers?:P Especially,
for legacy consoles!:P

This is just for software.

What about errors in software tracking?

i.e. Dr. Vita & Blowoverking pointed out that we've tracked the PS3 version of Jak Collection rather than the Vita version (as there's no entry for the Vita version but sales of the PS3 version spiked on the week of the Vita version's release).

Separate thread or here?

Edit: Nvm, see you already answered to him.
