It was only a matter of time and so we have it. EA has announced the season pass that will come in at £40/$50 and contain 4 expansion packs which will be announced later.

It's bad enough it has no SP campaign, the player count has been reduced and they have a rip off delux edition, but now this.

I don't mind season passes as long as you get value from them. The best example I can think of is Drive Club where the amount of free cars, tournaments, trophies and vinyls at £20 gave us more than 100% extra content.

I'm not saying every game should do this, but the level of transparency of exactly what we will get, when and the cost of it all was consumer friendly. Here we have another season pass on half a game that comes in almost at the full cost of the game with zero details.

How does that make you feel? Will it change your decision to buy the game?

I wasn't planning on buying the game, now I know I won't. Star Wars BF3 is going to look bare bones compared to the first installments if they keep taking features away and locking content at those prices.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

50 bucks for an expansion pass? LOL... no.. just no.

Reggin Bolas told me about the hipster anti-EA hate! I can see right through this! If this was Nintendo y'all be saying it was a steal!

i was going to buy it, but now i won't. i will buy it like i bought bf4, game + premium for less than 50€.
it's ok, i have lots of games to play in the meantime.

Don't know what's hipster about this or what Nintendo has to do with it. I generally don't buy season passes as I don't buy annual releases such as COD, Fifa etc. Unfortunately since I am a huge star wars fan I was interested in this game, but the season pass is off putting and making me think twice

The link in the OP doesn't mention the price, although it's true. But as Gamespot (link) or Polygon (link) mention, the last Battlefield games had similar season passes, so this is nothing new for EA.

Also, the Deluxe edition is $69.95 which is not what I  would call a rip off given that most standart editions cost this much, and the new Ultimate edition is just the Deluxe edition plus the season pass as the Origin page shows, with no discount ($69.95 + $50 = $119.95).

To be honest, I don't see anything surprising here, it's just EA doing what it has been doing for years.
