True but BC isn't available yet for the general public I thought? Isn't that later in the year? 

 

The general public probably isn't aware of it yet since Microsoft hasn't really started the marketing campaign for it yet. 


I thought it has been available since September? But promoting it won't sell the X1.There is no value at this point in the generation.

Just for preview members. I dont know about that, I could see Microsoft making a big deal about it with signs all over gamestop advertising it around black Friday next month when it's due to go online I believe, there are still a lot of 360 owners out there who love their games. 

And if they do another price cut, Parents could buy the ONE and save a ton on games since their kids games will work because of BC. 

Short story, Microsoft will sell a ton of systems this Christmas.

Exactly. Signs all over gamestop at black Friday and Microsoft just waits for cash to start rolling in.

If MS are smart, they'll announce the BC and announce a trade in program similtaniously. I reckon that's what they'll do.

Not saying they won't attempt it, but that is a risky strategy. Offering trade-ins on the promise of b/c only for customers to find all of the games aren't available is opening themselves up to a major PR black eye, maybe a legal one.

They have to do something because there is no way they're going to close the gap by 700k this year. In fact they may not close the gap at all if things keep going the way they are. Even if they win October, they have to win by a substantial margin to wipe out what Sony will have sold in September. And then November and December are still up in the air. If they can only close the gap by about 200k, it will be a disaster. I'm only taking about the US here because of course Sony will win WW again.

People buy consoles for new games though.Kids will want whats new and not some old games on an old system.I think it would be a waste of resources to even market BC when Sony has games like Uncharted 4 and Horizion coming in the future and MS has nothing after Hallo 5 until Gears 4.We will see though.

This has been a strange week. Usually when a retailer has a promo for a particular product, it lasts a week, a month, but just yesterday best buy listed the Destiny ps4 bundle for $349 and as of right now, it's already back to $399 on their website.

What would the purpose of a one day promo be? Unless Sony is getting ready to announce the price cut this Friday when uncharted launches. Just seems odd the promo is already over.

Best buy deal was only one day, and on Amazon the bundle is already sold out too

Just checked Amazon and the Destiny ps4 bundle is currently available to add to cart for $349 but only for reserving. Stock is back ordered and won't ship till the 14th.

NOTE: Amazon currently shows the price from a third-party seller but if you look at all available offers, you'll see Amazon is also available to order from currently but not sure how long. Guess it depends how big their next shipment will be next week.
