Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Xbox One Turns One Year Old In Japan; it Sold 54,813 Units in 12 Months

It's not over yet.....Holidays+Halo 5 and Tomb Raider could push hardware back to 4-digits.......

I cannot imagine toilet-free life.

Kebabs have a unique attribute compared to other consumables. To unlock this effect you need to wolf down a big ass kebab really fast, like under 10 minutes or so and wait for the effect to kick in. If done correctly your movements should feel unbelievably heavy to the point where you literally cannot move at all.

Such a flop. Its basically dead there. I wonder when they will discontinue it in japan

It's funny because when they do more Japanese gamers will complain than have actually bought the console. It's a good console, it has the games. Japanese completely stubbornness towards the Xbox brand is just ignorance at this point.

what are you talking about? why would any japanese gamer buy an Xb1 over a PS4?

The chart total says about 60k as of the last update, so not too far off.

MS must make every effort to keep up production because sales are really insanely high there :P.

To be fair, western games tend to be niche there, just like Japanese games tend to be niche in the west. The Xbox One has almost nothing to appeal to Japanese gamers currently. There are a couple visual novels, but those are hardly system sellers. Then there's the western games, but that comes back to the fact that you can't sell a console in Japan without a steady flow of games from Japanese studios. It gets even worse when you consider how focused on handhelds Japan is and realize that the home console market is having a difficult time really hitting its stride, which puts Microsoft as a brand at a greater disadvantage since they don't have a mobile division like Sony and Nintendo that deals in dedicated gaming handhelds.

Microsoft's overwhelming disadvantage in the Japanese market has quite a few factors, but in the end, as the only western focused console developer of the big three, they just have to make do with the markets they can get outside of Japan. Nothing about Japan's lack of desire to deal in Microsoft is ignorance. It's just a consumer decision based on what makes sense for them.

One positive MS can take out of this: That Titanfall attach rate.

They shouldn't lol, what I'm trying to say is, it's not deserving of such low numbers.

i think it does. to a japanese gamer, Xb1 is inferior to PS4 in pretty much every way.
