- new Xperia models :Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact and Xperia Z5 premium were revealed during the IFA technology show in Berlin this week

- Xperia Z5 Premium is the world's first smartphone capable of shooting and viewing in 4K

- Sony market head for Oceania John Featherstone said about the new Xperias:

"We've got a couple of different pillars where we stand out and one of them's camera technology,"

- Beyond a 23 megapixels camera, Featherstone says:

"instead of a single point of focus, you've got 192 points of focus, so if you have something move in and out of focus, it's detecting that and reacting instantly to autofocus the camera,"

- On the new Xperia battery life, he said:

"For those who are using a smartphone and are using it all day long, it needs to last more than a day and certainly on stamina mode you're talking a few days with this range," he said.

Xperia Z5 and Z5 compact are scheduled to launch next month while the Xperia Z5 Premium is expected to be available this November. No prices on any of the models yet.

Well, its like....their opinion man.

LOL, kidding aside, Sony has excelent smartphones. Its a shame that the people only focus on Samsung and Apple cellphones.

They can make a smartphone sized display that's 4k yet 4k monitors and TVs are still relatively expensive..

Fucking crazy

Since I live in the US and won't sign a contract, I'm looking at a Z3 or Z3 compact. Would love a Z5 for sure, but I am not going to drop $700+ on a phone. $300-$400 tops.

Before the PS3 everyone was nice to me :(

and yet the general consumer doesn't care.

That's great but meaningless since everyone is obsessed with Apple and Samsung phones.

Never

To bad they are still running on Android. If they were running on the Vita OS and had apps tied to PlayStation Store and PlayStation Network then people might give a crap. As it stands now, no matter how good the devices are, they are just me too android devces lost in the shuffle.

Sony needs to merge their mobile division with PlayStation and make innovative mobile devices, that actually stand out. A real PlayStation Phone with access to PlayStation Network and software from SCEWWS, EA, Activision, Take-Two, etc. would be an industry changer. Offering the device in a Vita like form factor along with the current Xperia form factors would give them something for everyone.

Hope these devices struggle, and make Sony go back to the drawing board, and doubl their efforts on the one Sony ecosystem.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.

nice phones, but I don't care about or need 4k on a smartphone or such a nice res camera (on my phone) and I imagine most consumers won't care either.

Bring the z5 to Verizon. I'm almost due for an upgrade and while I love that my phone still works great after all we've been through, its age is starting to show
