You haven't even seen the final build of the game yet.

I think my major concern is that even without needing to use gyro controls, can I just use the TV screen to move and shoot at enemies? I have no interest in using the 2nd screen aiming system they keep showing off.

Yes you can, the game is designed to be more intuitive with the aiming on the gamepad but you don´t need it to aim and you can put the cockpit view on the TV by pressing a button.

And yet most of the press said that the graphics were good while they were playing the demo.

I think people are still concerned because everything we've seen has looked as though the controls were built right into the gameplay itself. We've heard that they can be switched off but haven't seen any evidence of how it will look. It just makes them kind of nervous, like it could still end up being untrue.

I'm pretty sure this was confirmed at E3.....2014

I was glad that Splatoon's motion control was optional... but I was wrong because I am really dependent on them :p

Still glad that Star Fox is optional though

I bet that after this game releases, someone will make a thread complaining how they hate this game because of the motion controls

I could have sworn we were told this at E3 but maybe I just imagined that..

Either way still good to reiterate this once more since I'm sure people still love to use the whole "motion controls= shitty controls" argument when it comes to Nintendo games.

Yes we were told during the tree house event that it is opitonal, the motion controls add a bit more percision to aiming if you want to use them.

Ok, but will there be certain sections where the Gamepad will be required, and to some extent motion controls, or else the level would get a whole lot harder?

The boss fight in Titania comes to mind for one.
