Changing my pick to the Patriots.  By 7.

What a fortuitous and timely change :)

Cowbros, answer me this:

Your team is currently in possession of the 16th seed in the NFC. (In case someone doesn't know, there are only 16 teams in a conference.) Do you honestly believe that there is a chance that your team can move up 12 spots over the span of six weeks?

EDIT: Relevant to the topic:

Undefeated and coming off a 44-16 mauling of the Washington Redskins, coach Ron Rivera was surprised to hear Monday that his 10-0 team rolls into Dallas on Thanksgiving as underdogs to the 3-7 Cowboys.

Nobody likes the Panthers.

The Panthers versus Redskin game was actually very close for one quater but then Carolina opened a can of wupp ass the rest of the game and Cam Newton had one of his best games as a pro (5TD's zero picks).  There is no way the Panthers should be underdogs going into Arlington (that is where the Cowboys play the stadium is not even in the same county as Dallas) on Thanksgiving.

Wow. Making this decision really got to you.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

I'm not sure what that means, but it's not easy to pick against my Bills.

Week 12 has some really challenging picks.

I'm not sure what that means, but it's not easy to pick against my Bills.

You waited until the last minute for something that should have been a no-brainer if you did the maths.

Pick the Bills
1. If Bills win: You finish first with two games ahead of second.
2. If Bills lose: You finish tied for first.

Pick the Patriots
1. If Patriots win: You finish first with one game ahead of second.
2. If Patriots lose: You finish first with one game ahead of second.

The above alone makes a Patriots pick already the better decision, but the benefits are even greater when third place and below are taken into account. A wrong Patriots pick wouldn't have hurt you, because almost everyone picked them, including all of your relevant competitors. But a wrong Bills pick would have costed you.

If you weighed the risk/reward ratios of all possible scenarios, then picking the Patriots was a really easy decision because it guaranteed sole possession of first place while the negatives were far smaller than with a Bills pick. But it took you the whole day and until the last minute to submit that change. I was expecting a change all along.

Yes, I was aware of the logic. I was at work all day, then came home, then put baby to bed, then remembered to make the change at the last minute.  There's a difference between having other stuff to do and waiting.   I guess everybody saw through my initial "Bills by 28" pick.

ANNOUNCEMENT - Week 11 Results and Standings

The prediction league recovered from last week's all-time low with a decent showing. 21 players finished with a positive record, although most of them fell into the range of 8-9 wins. Carl2291, Chris Hu, Farsala, Mendicate Bias, Miguel_Zorro, MTZehvor and noname2200 were perfect on MNF. Lately the middle and end of the pack has performed better than the top of the hill in general. If this trend continues, some players who were top 10 for the longest time could find themselves outside of the playoff ranks while the opposite might also hold true.

In the standings, castor continues to sit alone at the top, now again with a four game lead. Miguel_Zorro made a big jump (up 7), benefiting from the slump that most of the top 10 are going through currently. The prediction league now consists of five categories: The man at the top (castor), the battle for second place (#2-7), the people at crossroads (#8-11, which group will they join in the next few weeks), the players fighting for a playoff spot (#12-22), and the guys (#23-28) whose chances to join the top 16 are getting slimmer with each passing week.

Thanksgiving in week 12, so we'll get to see the traditional home games of Detroit and Dallas on Thursday, plus a divisional game between the Bears and Packers. We have 96 games left this season, but the final stretch should be interesting because most NFL teams have struggled with consistency. There are 16 teams who either have a 5-5 or 4-6 record, so it's anybody's guess who will succeed in pushing for a wild-card spot or even a division title.
