A bit off topic, but what kind of laptop is it? I just have a 2010 Dell Inspiron N5110, which was basically a low end budget laptop to begin with.

That's still a dual core 2.2ghz i5 along with 4gb of ram, a browser which takes around 256mb - 500mb of ram should not be having issues running on it.

I'd say maybe see if you can remove a few start up programs either by uninstalling or using msconfig to make sure there isn't a load of Dell bloatware running on startup, if you aren't sure about doing either of these just ask and I'll give you a PM about fixing it up a bit to run better hopefully :)

something must be horrible wrong

i get completely other results
conversation works fine, calculator works fine. both is showing on top. and on the right side i got useful information. just 1 add on top for querys (unless i google hawaii - in that case i got 4, too)

I could try resetting my browser but I doubt it'll change anything. I doubt it has anything to do with my PC, it might be that I live in Norway and they don't support all features here, though that is kinda silly.

I get the same results on my (I)phone.

Is it mandatory to link your MS account to your sign in?
I kept my MS account off windows 8.1, I'll enter it when needed but do not want it auto linked in any way. (I don't use the app side at all)

The Reserve your free upgrade has appeared now on my laptop, yet I think I'll wait a bit before upgrading.
The only thing that's not working atm is the windows store, not a big loss except for the fact I can't download Project spark. Somehow it got to 37%, yet it always get stuck on pending after a minute. Hmm windows update is now stuck on preparing to install. 8.1 is falling apart :/

It is not mandatory to link your MS account to the computer, unless you want to use Cortana. I might unlink it in a few days. Oddly, the store is acting weird as of late.

but we both used bing.com and english language
so why should the results be so different and conversation and calculation not working?

that does not make any sense to me :D
