Forums - Gaming Discussion - Could The NX Be Something Completely Leftfield?

I was thinking about the recent announcement of DQ11 and the fact SE have mention it could be coming to the NX. How soon could the NX release though? It seems odd that SE have said that both the 3DS and the PS4 versions are targeted for a 2016 release, so why not assume the NX will come out in 2016 too? But wouldn't that be too soon? Wouldn't a lot of people who bought the WiiU feel a little 'used'? How could Nintendo possibly avoid that? I would say that there is a possibility the NX is being designed to exist 'alongside' the WiiU but how would Nintendo be able to do that? The solution could be quite surprising. Here is my possible solution:

The NX is an add on for the WiiU. It replaces the controller and has its own built in chipset. It also has updated connectivity with the WiiU to give it PS4/Vita capabilities. Everything made for the 3DS is playable on the NX and everything made for the WiiU is (obviously) playable on the NX.

So: An updated, larger 3DS and a updated controller for the WiiU that allows long distant streaming of WiiU games and plays 3DS games natively.

So pretty much do a Sega 2.0 ( Slightly different, but the idea is the same ). I reckon Nintendo would be out of business in 5 years time.

Send a Friend Request On PSN :P

Good idea but I think it won't be a third pillar on the way you are describing it. It is just like an upgraded controller which links between 3DS and Wii U.

Think about it though. It could sell as a 3DS and it could sell as a controller. It then straddles two markets.

It could also be a 3ds replacement... And the reason is that they might want to keep the handheld momentum going and not let it die off cause it really seems odd to me that SE would look at the wiiU's sales and still would want to develop DQ for Nintendo's next gen console soley based on Nintendo's word that it's going to be a hit.

Now granted that SE probably knows things that we don't know. Nintendo also could have paid SE to do so but since DQXI isn't Nintendo exclusive and everything that Nintendo has paid for thus far when it comes to them and third parties has been Nintendo Exclusive makes me a bit skeptical.

But who knows, its all speculation and we really don't know much about the NX so its mostly pointless to even begin to know what the NX could be. And yea, it could also be what u said

I think that's why a DQ XI NX version is "under consideration".

That's more likely going to happen for Sony or Microsoft.

Going out of business is more likely to happen to Microsoft than Nintendo? @_@
