NX coming up in the live stream was random especially as no one was asked about it, it seems to me SE's President slipped up and PR moved to try and cover up. NX as a handheld wouldn't need a new version to be considered as it would have BC to play the 3DS version which means NX is a console like platform and SE have most likely been shown it.

SE realized they've outed what the NX is afterward.

Who said anything about it being the only priority? Also the bolded is speculation. There is a reason why NX is on SE's mind, and it's because the PS4 has had lackluster Japanese sales thus far.

edit:

For precedent see FFXIII and FFXV. Both slated as PS3 exclusives, and eventually were delayed for various reasons and another platform was added in the process.
