No. Backwards compatibility is only useful in the first year or 2. At this point there is no need for it.

Bull, PSN has hundres of PS1/2 because people still enjoy them or missed out on them.

Great games from past gens can still be fun to new audiences. This is why Soy invested tons of money in PS Now.

Yeah and PSNow is better because the people don't have to already own the game.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

I've got that original model PS3 so i wouldn't need it.

It'd probably be impossible, right? Cause the Cell is so hot, because of its design. It's one of the reasons Apple was never able to make a PowerBook G5.

I guess they could redesign the console and make it bigger.

I always said that I'd be happy to pay $600 for a Playstation that played all PSX games (PS1-4). I don't think I'm alone.

I always thought Cell was a disaster for game development. Why bring it back? You would most likely achieve better results with overclocking the cpu section of the APU, or upgrading the APU itself. Dragging in a old processor from the mid 2000s seems like the worst possible idea.

considering i have 3-4 PS3 games i've yet to open, this would be perfect, though i'm a late adopter.

I really don't think BC is relevant anymore, this far into the generation. If it was there from the start,it would have had more value, but at this point in time, the new consoles got a library of games themself. BC is one of the most requested features, but only a minority would actually have used that feature, atleast if we should belive Sony, that said only 5% ever used that feature.

Is there a link or data  to  back up this quote?

Not the link i am refering to,but it does say the same --> http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2013/12/04/take-two-ceo-says-backwards-compatibility-doesnt-affect-consumers/

If they could use the extra power to make games look or run better.

Higher native resolution because of the better GPU or higher stable framerates would do it.

Otherwise I'll pass.

Then again all my PS3's have PS3 backwards compatibility....

No, i wouldn't. I can care less about BC. Most people aren't going to go back and play old games, once they get used to the graphics and such from this gen. BC would be useful within the first year of the consoles release, that's about it, imo. As for recording gameplay, I can care less about that as well.
