Care to explain how the PS4 is innovative?

Quite honestly, i'm seeing shocking replies in this thread of fans feeling offended.

Sony uses this corporate strategy. Its something widely known in the market and has been studied. If we want to pretend they arent because they or philips registered hundreads of useless patents they never use in case someone else does they can sue, does not change the fact that "following the leader" strategy is the one the Sony corporation has used for more than a decade. And before you come with "lolz Sony IS the leader lolz" this pertains to the innovation leaders aswell. Sony has been copying Philips and Nintendo aswell in more than one occasion. This is nothing to be ashamed about though its a perfectly normal strategy with clear benefits as i have said before. Actually Sony has copied Microsoft with the later life of the PS3 in terms of software development and the PS4 making hardware closer to the PC structure like the 360 was.

What you guys need to understand is that copying something good, isnt a bad thing. Its a smart thing.

Sony hasnt been the innovator since the walkman and discman days. They were losing too much money with that strategy, wich is why they changed it, even though they didnt achieve great results, they cut costs.

Also, please don't reply if you dont understand corporate strategy. Not for you in particular bking, but to all people replying to this topic without any sense of what these things mean.

screen captures, gameplay captures, shaing of both through the internet to social media, live streaming, shared play over the internet, multiplayer across the internet without both people requiring the game etc are all innovations and are here to stay as gaming moves forwards

sure for a short period motion controls had a significant impact but what has become of them? they are pretty much dead at this point

motion controls were not innovative because the very definition of innovation is a concept that changes how a certain process is done and is permanently implemented going forward within the particular field

motion controls and i'd even venture to say tablet controllers do not fit this description; if anything the word "fad" is a better description

You were able to share pics on miiverse and access it online (https://miiverse.nintendo.net/) when the wii u came out a year earlier (the game that comes to mind the most is windwaker hd). The only thing you couldn't do was capture video until they partnered with youtube on certain games. Sharing games has only been a matter of knowing an account info of the friend and has been around since vc existed. If you have shady friends you can't trust your account info with, I guess it could be a problem.

"You were able to share pics on miiverse"

a concept which they took from the ps vita

" The only thing you couldn't do was capture video"

you can capture gameplay on the wii u? i didn't know that i also didn't know that you could broadcast gameplay, allow friends to play your games over the internet and play multiplayer games with only one person owning the game

imo these are far better features than something like offscreen play that instantly becomes irrelevent if you own your own tv

Its a smart move. Sony is going to steal it anyway, but this way it will be at least a year before Sony can fully copy it. I hope when they do announce it, it launches that same year. Gives Sony less of a chance to blatantly rip it off.

Hahah, you should write an alternate history book.  It'd be a fascinating work of fiction.

Yep, did it all the time on my xbone. Just got done playing zombies with my brother in Advanced Warfare, and over the weekend played Elder Scrolls Online, and I never paid a cent. On 360, I had Castlvania Harmony Of Dispair and Batman Arkham Imposter (with dlc) I played online completely free. As long as the VC has been around you could share games.

Also, 3ds and Wii also had the function to post pics to the Mii Plaza (before Vita) before their was miiverse.

Lmao, yea ok. Stick to handheld and 17 more Pokémon games Iwata. Wii was a bad fluke but helped push M$ and Sony to bring out nothing but quality (Gears, Alan Wake, Lost Odyssey, Uncharted, The Last of Us, Demon's Souls, etc, etc, etc). Sometimes I wish Sega came back to the console space with a better marketing team.

Make games, not war (that goes for ridiculous fanboys)

I may be the next Maelstorm or not, you be the judge http://videogamesgrow.blogspot.com/  hopefully I can be more of an asset than a fanboy to VGC hehe.

They basically don't want to reveal any details early, which is fine by me tbh.

Yeah that's just smart, honestly.  But trying to throw a shot at Microsoft/Sony, for something you're equally guilty of is hilarious.  They kinda need a better PR team.

There is no shot in there! They are stating the most logical truth! Jesus

No company should show it´s product so early because it loses the surprise factor and the competition can take some idea, that´s PURE LOGIC

Some of you are sooo ofended by that lol Can you think a bit? and read the original text by the way, because that title is pure bullshit.

Not speaking for Nintendo of course, but I never intended to throw shots at MS/Sony, but I honestly don't see how my message is viewed like that :/

I do agree that their PR team is saying some questionable things though.. especially with all that damage control.
