Forums - Sales Discussion - Will Splatoon be able to outsell any major exclusives from Sony or Microsoft this year?

On the basis that the order was meant to be a major exclusive I will say yes for Sony. The only major franchise from MS that sells low enough o consider is the annual Forza instalment, if Splatoon does unexpectedly well it can beat Forza. I can't think of any other major exclusives coming this year that will do below 3 million to give Splatoon a shot. I certainlynhope Bloodborne will do over 3 million LT.

If/when PS4 and PC versions of RTR come out in 2016 it might be possible for Splatoon to sell more than the Xb one version, which is a 2015 exclusive.

BloodBorne sold good in first week, but the sales are dropped like a rock in Japan, and even in the US according to NPD.

Splatoon maybe will have a worse first week ( MAYBE ) , but it will probabily have better legs.

So yeah... by 2 January 2016, I'm going to say Splatoon > BloodBorne. Even by a decent margin.

And I don't doubt it will do better than the Order, but it will be very much like it in being a game hyped by the fanbase that didn't do anything close to the numbers supporters predicted.

To be fair to the supporters of The Order, once reviews started rolling in i don't think anyone was hyping sales to be like the Uncharted Steampunk Edition. Splatoon is different in this regard in that it has been getting very good reviews, so that supports the sales hype train post-release.

81 metacritic is 'decent,' not 'very good.' Certainly better than the Order got, but the hype for Splatoon started before nayone had any reason for it, also.

Hmm, actually, so far, Bloodborne's sales aren't as high as I expected. Maybe it might have a chance, if Ninten's marketing worked.

The question is if any sony or ms exclusive besides halo can outsell splatoon.

The comparison is hard to make. But if you take something that is clearly major to one of the other systems, it would be a fair-ish comparison because this game is clearly major to the Wii U. I just don't know how that will play out. I know Sony fans thought the Order was going to clean up and it didn't, so who knows. Maybe it will outsell that kind of game? But 'nobody really wanted any of anybody's games' isn't a clear point of victory to crow over. I don't know enough about what's coming out on all the systems this year.

Definitely not a fact. It all depends on how each game does. splatoon could be the new mario kart and halo on x1 will never have as big of a base as the x360 had.
