Newest strats will be placed on the top!

1. How to conquer Saltspray Rig - ohmylanta1003 & PixelPerfect:

"...on Saltspray Rig, I found it almost impossible to lose if you immediately rush the North square and then camp it by guarding the center area, which is the only path into the North square. I personally use the Aerospray rg, as the ink mines help quite a bit in guarding the center and the aerospray is an overall solid weapon. It might be a bit boring at times, but it is worth it, as the North square is almost always the determining factor in who wins on that map."

"On Saltspray Rig, I usually went straight for the large area since having a large territory like that in your possession always helps out." - PixelPerfect

2. Wall hiding...:

"If I saw a player coming i'd run around the corner, splat the area (including the walls) then hide in the ink on the wall. The enemy's first instinct is to shoot the ground so I could usually get a surprise attack sprung."

3. ... and nullifying! - CarcharodonKraz:

"The second also takes some stealth. If I found an opposing roller I would not try to kill them. Instead I try to follow them unnoticed with my own paint roller, completely negating their progress and wasting their time. Stealth is my key strategy so far."

4. Covering area while refilling your ink quickly

This is pretty basic. Always aim high while shooting as you advance. Ink falls down during the curvature of your shots so aiming high leaves a trace of ink in front of you to squid through. Doing this continuously will cover a large area of ink while leaving you plenty of ink leftover for incoming enemies.

5. Demolishing aggressive splatrollers

Spotted a splat roller a few feet away and they're charging towards you? No problem! As long as you got space behind you, keep jumping backwards while aiming down at the sucker. They will be splatted in a few seconds of firing and you'll make them feel silly for choosing the roller for offensive gameplay.

6. Conquer the Walleye stage - PixelPerfect & t3mporary126:

"Stage-wise, I usually took the side route on Walleye Warehouse since the small corridors made it harder for my opponents to sneak attack." - PixelPerfect

One way to claim such dominance is stealing the areas closest to your opponent's turf and spam their check points with sticky grenades to keep them at bay after hiding in your ink to refill your tank.

Here's a visual illustration of the plan

While the red X seems like a good place to conquer because of the size and location, it shouldn't be your first priority to splat. By splatting the areas that are circled, you and your team can hide and ambush any incoming opponents coming from their checkpoint. Your foes will also take damage by standing on your team's ink. A Splatter Jr. set up can do this relatively well because you will probably have your shield ability ready by the time you reach the larger center circle on the map. Take advantage of that shield ability and pass it to others while splatting areas near your foes' home turf!

Alternatively, you can claims those areas anytime the opposing team is under 3 members. This gives them less option to super jump over your splatted areas nearby.

So what tips have you guys swam across while playing Splatooning?

Here's a humorous strategy video already! (thanks the_dengle!)

This was my first testfire, but my stat was definitely the "covering area while refilling your ink quickly" one. I would squirt in the air, then swim to refill, jump out into the ink while shooting, rinse and repeat. I think it worked really well.

I also took down a fair number of rollers. I find that it's easy to shoot at them while backing away. It's just important to be aware of your surroundings when it comes to that kind of enemy.

Edit: Just remembered that I did the third strat a lot near the end also.

This is a great thread made a week too early.

Looks like I put the wrong link to the pic on the OP. Should be fixed now!

Well if it gets a lot of replies perhaps or people remember this thread, it can stick around for launch. Or I can always bump it up later

I would have to buy the game at launch to contribute something meaningful though.

But for now, its just another way for people to express their impression in a more specific way.

Usually, I kept trying to push and cover as much ground as I could while maintaining my ink. Whenever I saw an opponent approaching (as long as I had some territory) I usually chucked a few grenades and kept my distance until I was confident that I could get the kill.

Stage-wise, I usually took the side route on Walleye Warehouse since the small corridors made it harder for my opponents to sneak attack. On Saltspray Rig, I usually went straight for the large area since having a large territory like that in your possession always helps out.

I'm hoping to figure out more when the game releases as well.

I'm sure the thread will catch on a bit after launch. I haven't tried the Test-Fire, but I like the idea of harassing the enemy by their spawn point. Try to keep them distracted while my team paints the map. I'll try a Charger with that strategy.

My strategy is to get into the highest area and cover everything I see. Oddly enough this strategy works great with the roller too.

Demolishing aggressive splatrollers

Pretty much my main strategy. Always works.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

Splatshot with shield is my basic tactic. Focus on covering ground and taking out those who you encounter.. Really simple but it works most of the time (given that your team doesn't follow you for a long time =.=)

I didnt have a strategy.Sure, i went to the zones that didnt have much paint or were of the oposite team paint, but in general i just went to the place with the most chaos and adapt from there. But i will say one thing:Its noticeble the lack of a mean of communication.I personally would not use voice chat, because i dont like it, but it could be very useful at coordenating the team or even to just give general instructions. The game is amazing even without it, but a text-chat with the team before the match would be nice.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
