Forums - Sony Discussion - Bloodborne frustration starting to set in....

I just skipped him

Around the Network

I befriended him a while back, but I'm thinking of going back to take him out (if the woman with the plague mask hasn't gotten him already). Just found out you can buy dead hunter gear with Insight, gotta collect it all...

I don't know if anybody said this already, but just climb up the ladder without stopping, shoot him a couple of times and he will fall down. Works almost always. Then return to hunter's dream, get back to the tower and climb up to get his stuff.

Official member of VGC's Nintendo family, approved by the one and only RolStoppable. I feel honored.

Check vattividya's video. Its helpful. You wont believe how easily they kill these hunters.

Died 6 times and already complaining? Be a man and try at least 20 times more before coming back!

You can also try another area first, like the Cathedral Ward. Old Yarham is optional anyway. Come back later with better stats and weapons if you think you're underleveled.

If you are the frustrated just carry on past the ladder you need to access to get to him and start unlocking the shortcuts. There are 2 possible shortcuts allowing you to:

A: miss the area entirely and just go straight through to the rest of the map

or

B: Allow you to sneak up from behind him and not get shot at in the first place.

He is hard yes and most of the tips here are valid. You can level up. You can shoot him 4 times without stopping as soon as you get to the top to knock him off. You can engage him in a fight then climb all the way back down that sometimes prompts him to jump after you and die.

I think quitting over an optional area is a bit much.

This is easiest way to make him fall and super cheesy:
If you lock on to him as soon as you finish going up the ladder and shoot 5 times with a pistol, he will fall. Works 9 times out of 10. Then just reload the game there to get his drop to spawn on the ledge.

He's actually optional and you aren't meant to fight him early on, since he can become a friendly NPC later on, that's why they made him soo hard.
Also, you can just rush his tower without killing any enemies by jumping off the building where he first starts shooting you, roll to a statue to not get shot, then continue run till you're out of his line of fire and continue with the level.

No news from him means he give up already.

How far did you get in the Chalice dungeons? They maned me up, specially the defiled ones, errr... never again did I stare at my big bar of health pick regular enemies one at a time. Basically, once the fear of getting hit stops because you've evaded harder things with half your health that can kill you in one hit, you look start laughing at regular enemies. And once you can dart in and out of mobs of enemies, you just beging to feel the rewards of dungeons, hunters like 'the old hunter' appear like regular enemies that you can time well enough for them just scratch you here and there.

I'm not too far.  Lower Pthumeran, about half way through the total chalice dungeon quest line.  I am NOT looking forward to the defiled chalice since I'm only level 90.

I'm level 205 and i still haven't been able to beat the Watchdog of the Lords in the defiled chalice. A real SOB.
