You are assuming that I wanted WiiU to be a failure. I'll be glad to be proven wrong and WiiU surpass the Gamecube numbers and make a run at N64. But, it's simply not looking that way anymore. The WiiU hardware is dated and is not getting any support except from Nintendo and Partners. Even the indie games are more interested in bringing their games to PS4 and Xbox one. 

Between now and the time the WiiU is discontinued, it need to sell 12.32 million units to catch up to Gamecube. They would have to average more then 4 million units for next 3 years.

Pretty much certain at this point. Unless Nintendo somehow announces a couple of massive old and new IPs that will receive stellar reviews, and keeps it going until the end of 2018, even the chances of it hitting 20 million are slim.

I'm just poking fun at the trend where people bump threads that are years old when someone is proven wrong....as if they expect the bump to sting like a fresh wound.

When in reality, me in five years reading a wrong prediction I wrote today: "Someone remembered and took the time to find this? Ew" lol

Its gonna be close though. The Gamecube had a 5 full years on the market before the Wii. WiiU has until the end of 2017. It may just do it in the next gen with a trickling sales effect. Either way, get ready to be POSSIBLY OWNED in early 2018 when this thread is bumped! :P



Xbox: Best hardware, Game Pass best value, best BC, more 1st party genres and multiplayer titles.

WiiU 2 might sell even worse, so all time who knows..

Until this gen most likely... I can't even see it hit 18M.

Or the Mario Bros movie, or Zelda TV series. They were "fan made" ventures. Not official and Nintendo had nothing to do with them :P

I expect Nintendo to drop the MSRP of WiiU to $249.99 last holiday and kick start some sales of the WiiU. Then Holiday 2015 and 2016 hit the market with a $199.99 MSRP that would of really gave them a price advantage over the competiton. 

Instead we're in May 2015 and WiiU is selling at 50$ less then a massively supperior Xbox one. There still no game that really selling the expensive somewhat useless gamepad.
