Honest question: "Project Cars and FormulaOne 2015" without 1080p on XboxOne. Why did the XboxOne so severe problems in many games?

A request: Speak friendly with each other and discuss the reasons. Microsoft is not prepared for the next few years - maybe ? What do you think ?

In addition to "Project Cars" , "FormulaOne 15" , "Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes" also has "Pro Evolution Soccer 15" on PlayStation 4 1080p, Full HD. But not at the Xbox One. MGS GZ has 720p on XboxOne (on PS3/360 too). the last news: The resolution and frame rate for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 has been revealed. For PlayStation 4, the title will run at 60FPS at full 1080p resolution. For Xbox One players, Treyarch was not willing to confirm a final resolution as of now. I have no idea with technology, what exactly is the reason?

i'm interested in the real reasons.

Well, we don't *exactly* know why both of these games aren't 1080p because it could be either
* performance
* size of esram
or a combination of both.

To Konami games: The Fox engine uses a deferred renderer which is heavily relying on size in memory which Xbone only has on slow DDR3 ram and way too less on incredibly fast esram.

The system just flat out wasn't built well for 1080p. Not only is the GPU about as strong as the R7 250X (A sub $100 Entry level GPU), but the ESRAM also bottlenecks the framebuffer. It is a 720p/900p console plain and simple.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

the most obvious differences between the PS4 and the X1 is the former having a larger gpu part with 18 compute units (= 1152 shader cores), while the X1 has 12 (= 768 shader cores)

additionally the PS4 gpu has 32 raster operations pipelines, while the X1 has 16 - those play a big role in outputting the picture the gpu rendered and according to several tech forums with 16 it's quite a bit tougher to achieve native 1080p output

Before this goes into a shitfest real quick, heres your answer.

Because a stable framerate effects gameplay more than resolution, if the hardware can't hit the same performance with the same resolution, dropping the resolution to achieve that is more desireable than shipping a game with choppy framerates.

Is it really? I thought it was all about the RAM. I mean you can render 4K with much lesser GPUs.

Amen.

Of course it can do 1080p as games already showed us. But devs have to make cuts to achieve it, obviously.

Bingo!  The R7 250X is perfectly capable of playing BF4 in 1080p - at low-medium settings.  I would argue 1080p at low-medium looks better than 720p on High, but I unfortunately am not the guy making that decision over at DICE.

One thing that is important to know is that these are all 60fps games.
