Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Splatoon won’t have any voice chat support

I guess Nintendo won't be marketing this as their sytlized shooter anymore. Here's hoping they patch it in later?

This is bad news IMO

That sucks.

Seeing as this is Nintendo, I'm actually not surprised. With all the CoD voice chat rage and Wii U limitations, it makes sense.

Wow, Nintendo. So behind the times.

Maybe the "NX" will have voice support - lol

Well, that's dumb. How are you going to organise and plan ahead with your team without voicechat?

I can't see much strategy in the way of a "shoot your paint everywhere!" kind of game.

Being an introvert I don't care much for voice chat, so it won't be missed. But I hope there is someway to communicate with friends, like pre allocated Miiverse message.

We don't know much about this game yet, so it's probably a little too early to deem it as a "shoot your paint everywhere!" kind of game.

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Next thing you know, nintendo isn't going to use red paint, because it will be confused as blood.... morons. Why bother with a competitive shooter if your friends and or team mates can't talk to you? I have no idea what they're thinking....

As useless as voice chat is in 90% of situations, this was still stupid. Appearances matter Nintendo! And your bottom line is going to keep hurting until you learn your freaking lesson.

Even if the game is not as strategic as say Evolve, Voice chat would still have been great. It makes sense in most team based games, especially if they are competitive (against other players)

It's a missed opportunity. I wonder how the reviews will see this. Will they dismiss it or fault the game for not having it?

Truthfully, I wouldn't have used it anyways (never have for any other game) but I can see why some would be upset.

Do you not think being able to talk with your friends online is kinda important?

Nintendo is dumb, its got to be official. They know how to handle plenty of their traditional franchises, but when it comes to keeping up with the times this is just absurd

a shooting team based game (regardless of if it is more children aimed) WITHOUT voice chat? that's just silly.
