I'd say wait for Starfox.  I think the best uses will come near the end of the gen.  You know how long Nintendo takes to make games. However that said ZombiU was a launch title and I still think it made the best use of the pad if for no other reason than using the pad to look in your pack added to the tension in the game for me.  Being able to hear stuff around you but not being able to see what was going on until you were done fooling with your pack was great.

1. Unless you are an "insider" please dont make such comments.

2. Wii U has passed its peak. This wont help Wii U even if it brings back gamepad usage in a meaningful way.

3. Check the link. Starfox Wii U wont use gamepad as primary controller. But you can still use it though.

Star Fox For Wii U Apparently Won’t Require Motion Based Controls

http://mynintendonews.com/2015/02/18/star-fox-for-wii-u-apparently-wont-require-motion-based-controls/

1. Statement in that article was made referred E3 2014 Star Fox tech demo, and was referred only to motion controls not gamepad, and even isnt viable source.

2. Several times after E3 Miyamoto states that he is looking different ways to use gamepad in game, he even states in december two time that his hand hurting from playing Star Fox with gamepad.

3. Nintendo last year in januar and this year in february again stated that will focus on more games with big usage of gamepad, Star Fox is one of them, just like Toad, Kirby, Mario Party, Mario Maker, Project Guard and Robot...

http://wiiudaily.com/2015/02/nintendo-will-focus-on-gamepad-2015/

Gamepad will 100% be primary controller for Star Fox, and I think that are good chances for Motion Controls too, but maybe they will be optional.

And Wii U certainly didn't had yet its peak year, this year probably with price cut.

I´d like the system far more without the Gamepad.

Off tv play is of no use to me, and as such the Pro controller is much more superior as far as I´m concerned. It´s very annoying that, while playing W101 with the Pro controller, the game demands in some parts that I use the Gamepad just for some gameplay novelty that I don´t even think it´s fun.

The Wii U has now been in the market for 27 months and there´s been no compelling reason that justifies the Gamepad.I think the importance of off tv play, one of its most touted benefits, is overrated in the West.

Sounds like you've played Club Golf.

I would definitely want it more than I did. After using it, the Gamepad has some plus' and some minus', but ultimatly it is a utterly pointless gimick, no matter how hard Nintendo tries to prove it's worth the bulky finger-print magnet hassle that IS making Nintendo sell less Wii U's.

W/O the gamepad, I strongly believe the Wii U would be at atleast 13m units sold by now.

I personally like the GamePad, specially when it's used properly in games like Rayman Legends!

Doesn't make a difference.  As a eshop w*ore, I prefer those bite size games on the pad (shovel knight, nes remix, etc). But for the larger retail releases, I go with the big screen.

I love the gamepad but it should never have been mandatory. Not only should the pad have been optional, but also higher res. & quality screen with a sleeker design.

In the end, the gamepad is like a crippled gameboy on house arrest. Hopefully, the Fusion gets it right and the pad gets full independence.

Maybe I can't find it in the settings, but I wish there was a way to prevent the Gamepad from turning on when I turn on my Wii U.

If it's impossible then there's a huge problem waiting to happen. If the Gamepad dies, then certain important aspects of the Wii U dies (settings) because Nintendo thought it was a good idea to make the Wii U settings only usable by Gamepad. :/

And that thing costs dearly..

I said that because I really like how they use the gamepad for Club Golf.  If you are into that stuff, I recommend checking it out.
