Forums - Politics Discussion - 'Mentally Retarded' a Banned Phrase

Should non-offensive words that are used offensively be banned?

Yes. 23 13.29%

No. 105 60.69%

Only for some words. 13 7.51%

Who cares? 29 16.76%

Other. 3 1.73%

Total:173

eh, not really surprising, weren't feminists trying to "ban bossy" a little while ago?

all of these changes and the changes that are to come are being brought about gradually so that the general populous does not jump up and resist

in the pursuit of a utopian world where no one is harmed or is made to feel bad or suffers in any or whatever, freedom has to be sacrificed to bring about that safety

it is the liberal intellectuals who as they did in germany just before hitler came to power that are priming society slowly, but persistently towards that end... the common trend you will see with all social justice warriors, feminists, mras, etc etc etc is their insistence that there is too much suffering and as a result society in all aspects has to be made safer by restricting freedom

the parallels are startling... another similarity is that atheism and humanism ( the worship of the race ) were also very prominent in germany at that time which lead to a god not giving the society morality but the state instead acting as the judge of morality because since there is no god and man is himself god then man sets his own morality

a significant tool in all of this is terrorism... if everyone is worried that they will be attacked by muslims then they will turn to the state for safety... saddam hussein was founded and trained by the CIA as was osama bin laden as was the group that would later become al qaeda and even later ISIS

this has the benefit of also resulting in the fall of islam as people scapegoat it more and more for the atrocities that are occuring, Christianity is on its way out with the rise of atheism and humanism and this fate will be met by all religions

then again i know most people will just say that this is crazy talk and all that does is make me makes me wonder how long it will be till that is banned... i give it 33 years tops

They can protect themselves with their preternatural physical strength.

I have some English friends that still call cigarettes 'faggots'.

I think you mean fags. Faggots are something completely different (they are food).

its US slang... They butcher up english..

Anyway.. The N word used to be normal... Should we use it again? Times and sentiments changes.. For the better

It never went away. It's just racist if a white person says it. Black people (people of color, whatever is now the politically correct term because I don't even know anymore) use it all the time. This is probably a whole separate discussion, but how is it okay that they can use it, but others can't? If it's so offensive why do they keep saying it? Honestly, I feel like that's racism right there. The black population is allowed to use a word that the white population will be condemned for.

Black person talking to another black person: "What's up my n*?" Nobody has a problem.

White person talking to another black person: "What's up my n*?" Racist.

That's a problem in my opinion.

That is dehumanizing because the Hulk is a green monster. The polite term should be "power merchants".

They don't need protection they can stand up for themselves.

As somebody who works with adults with intellectual disabilities, this is an interesting topic to me...
If we refer to an individual to whom we provide services as retarded, we are violating their rights...
But to refer to their disability as mental retardation (whether it :а мф с mild, moderate, severe, or profound), is still entirely acceptable, despite whatever lawmakers might say...
Academic researchers are still more likely to use mental retardation than use intellectual disability (or even developmental disability) when it comes time to write their reports and articles...
As important as it might be to have a form sense of the language we should be using when advocating for the rights of those living with MR, such an intense focus on this particular topic has resulted in a complete absence of dialogue on more important issues (such as sexuality and fertility, community integration, healthcare access and treatment protocol, to name a few more urgent topics)...

Have a nice day...
