Since this is probably his first criminal offense I doubt he will get the max sentence so he should get a lot less then 5 years and since its not a major crime he probably only has to do a fraction of his entire sentence and will more then likely get released early unless he misbehaves while in prison.

Swatting is when someone on the internet does some kind of hacking to be able to make a phone call that gets traced to the victims house, they call police and say something along the lines of "I just shot my whole family and i will kill every cop that comes onto my property".  So that police respond in full force.  they usually do it to someone who is live streaming so they get to watch it.

Supposedly, in this case, he swatted someone and the task force critically injured the person's father. The swatter is now getting 25 to life.

Anyway, yeah, you're 19 you should be more careful with what you do. 5 years is fine. Seriously, fuck that guy.

TBH I'm one of these to think pizzas and missionnaries are already too much.

But though it's nice they want to make him an example and stuff, I really think 5 years is just going to turn a retarded kid into an actual criminal.

no, this guy is no "dumb prankster", he used swatting to blackmail people and reportedly swatted several people in several states because he was confident he couldn't be traced/wouldn't be charged

I honestly think 5 years isn't enough. Imagine the swat team busting in your home and you have your little brother or sisters there or kids if any of you have any. They would be terrified, people like this need to be held accountable so this type of behavior is stopped.

These people swat people (usually for losing in games or for no reason at all) and watch it on livestream and laugh while the victims are terrified as guns are pointed at them and they are treated as violent criminals. Why are we having sympathy for these stupid swatters?
