@OP: I still think this is a great site, but as it takes part of my free time, sometimes I think it subtracts it from actual gaming (although Facebook is far worse at this, and it eats study time too).

yeah, you know.. i dont really understand the hate. some people can just be so callous sometimes. i can totally see somebody making an announcement thread because its common courtesy if you were always in contact with a lot of users. it could be valid to make an announcement thread for a variety of other reasons too.
