I doubt it. I feel like people throw around the term system seller too often. So far the only true system seller we've seen for the Wii U has been MK8. Even SSB didn't boost the Wii U as some had thought it would.

I have to disagree with this. There are all kinds of system sellers. I think that people who bought a wiiu were aware that a smash game will definitely be released on wiiu so they bought a wiiu before Smash was released. They didn't wait until Smash was available. The same way that I'm sure many people are buying ps4s knowing that Uncharted, God of War, and Gt7 will eventually be released on ps4. First week sales or sales after launch do not necessarily show the complete picture, imo at least.

As for Splatoon. I really don't see it being a system seller. I hope I end up being wrong, because I've been criticizing Ninty for not taking any risks or for overrelying on their successful franchises, so this is definitely a step towards the right direction soI hope it sells well. I just don't see it happening. I think that wiiu fans are excited for it but that's it. Let's see what happens.

@bolded: That's a very hard task on gaming forums

 So very true

The game could be massive, or even better than massive. I'm expecting smooth, thrilling gameplay that will spread word and finally trigger those who were interested in MK and Smash but didn't feel convinced enough to get the console.

It could be a system seller if people know about it. AKA, Nintendo needs to get their shit together when it comes to marketing.

It's pretty much tough go to market new IP, even for Sony/MS that isn't a violent action shooter or something.

Even MS failed with Sunset Overdrive and I saw a fair number of commercials for that.

Any great exclusives is a system seller. I remember last gen I was wii/360 for the first 3 years or so. But eventually I bought a ps3 not for one specific game but perhaps for 10 or 15 exclusives. I didn't play or buy them all but know that there was a large quantity of worthwhile exclusives made it a no brainer. The same logic applies to the wiiu. The value as a second console is going to be tremendous as the price of the console goes down.

Nah. It looks like one of those games that (while being very high in quality, much like Bayo 2) will only appease to the core userbase for the Wii U. Its not like its a long established IP like the Super Mario Bros., Mario Kart or SSB etc series that can actually push consoles sales.

I love how people think that the core nintendo userbase is into Bayonetta 2. That's remarkable. I remember when people said core nintendo fans don't like m rated games lol.

Enlighten me then.. who else if going to buy Bayonetta 2 on the Wii U?

Not unless Nintendo hire new western publicists.

It might move a few, but it seems like the Zelda game and perhaps Starfox/Xenoblade have the best chance going forward. Splatoon DOES seem like something that a few well placed commercials on Cartoon Network and the like could really get some people interested, though.

One thing I'm curious about is, given the Wii U seems to be a popular second system, whether or not Wii U sales might see an uptick once people have had their PS4 or Xbox 1 for a while. A buddy of mine assures me he'll get one eventually but only just got the PS4 last month and doesn't have the money yet; perhaps others are thinking similarly?
