Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ways Nintendo can boost WiiU sales

1. HD remake.... last nintendo direct gave us Mario Galaxy 2 on WiiU .... this is pretty bad business by nintendo. They could of made a HD remake of Galaxy 1 & 2 and bundle them for $50. This can be handle by outside studio and boost software available to WiiU. There so many games that could benefit from the HD treatment.

2. WiiU consoles colour scheme... Black and white??? Nintendo has gone down this path before and it has result in short term increase in hardware sales. More limited edition WiiU's that would boost sales and put the focus on Nintendo WiiU if only to generate some news.

3.  WiiU Slim or WiiU redesign... rather then change colour release a new redesign WiiU. WiiU 250-500gb anyone?

4.  Every new game should have get a limited run WiiU bundle, software sales consoles and what better way to boost sales then to try to entice new customer with a limited edition bundle.

5.  Price cut.... MSRP has been $299 since August 2013, sure price cut is not the only solutions but it's certainly not going to hurt. The only way to boost softwares sales is by increasing the current install based. Lost revenue on hardware is quickly made up in periphiral and softwares.

6.  More software, sure Nintendo by now has completely lost third party support, It's time for Nintendo to build a staple of 2nd Party partnership studios. Nintendo cant make enough software to prevent software drought and there enough struggling studios in Japan and around the world that could use some security that nintendo can provide by funding their game development.

7.  Better use of Nintendo Direct, I think there should be a monthly Nintendo direct that focus on every WiiU and 3DS games coming out in the near future. These Nintendo direct should no longer feature Iwata and his broken english (I'm not saying drop Iwata entirely just doesn't have to have him do every Nintendo Direct) , Nintendo has large marketing such as the Tree House and Bill Trinen that would be much better a conveying the Monthly Nintendo Direct message. Let marketing do their job.

8.  Capcom.... buy them enough said.

9. Bring more Apps to the Nintendo WiiU, allowing for more diversity will have people using their WiiU more often.  Give people reason to use their WiiU every day will increase interest in the WiiU and may generate positive word of mouth advertising.

10.  Recapture the casual market, Xbox one and PS4 aren't really focusing on this market segment either.

You do know that they can't just buy Capcom right? Like, Capcom costs a lot of money and there are many things to consider when buying a company...

Also, I don't like the whole "Mario Galaxy HD Remake and sell it for $50" idea either cause I doubt they will be able to improve much on it and paying $50 for a remaster with minimal effort is not something I would like

I think buy Capcom should be #1!

What do you do with Street Fighter and other franchise that don't really sell well on Nintendo consoles?

None of these are new ideas anyway.

Capcom is valued at 650 million and you only need to buy enough shares to become majority holder. Capcom cold be acquired for probably around 350 million.

You would get two games for the price of one and 1080P HD treatment. I'm going to buy Mario Galaxy 2 that Nintendo just announce the game cost $20 (10$ during the promotional time). I would much rather pay $25 for Mario Galaxy 2 HD, Now I'm stuck playing the original game in 480P. IT's the same process they did to the Wind waker HD. Check out the Youtube link to see what Mario Galaxy would look in HD.

Honestly I think the only things worth mentioning are producing more quality games through collabs and then getting the price down. At this point the Wii U is only looking to appeal to the core gamer audience who appreciate Nintendo IPs.

Everything else is fluff with where the Wii U is at now.

Edit: Actually the recapturing the casual market is quite interesting considering Nintendo never really tried that hard to begin with. We had Nintendo land, Wii U fit and Wii U play. We haven't seen much of the creativity of marketing that nintendo applied to the Wii... At the very minimum release Wii Sports 2 and then something interesting with the gamepad. I don't see any chance of miracles happen but it could give them a healthy boost.

I get that but that is still quite an expensive investment cause Capcom really only has like what? Two IPs that might help Nintendo? One is Monster Hunter and the Other is probably SF so the question will be, will it be cheaper for Nintendo just to get the exclusive rights to the IPs or invest in the whole company and imo, it will be better for them to get exclusive rights. And I am pretty sure Capcom's market cap is at 1 billion USD atm

And I understand how wonderful dolphin looks but the issue with me is that its only up resing it to 1080p and asking me to pay $50 (or $25 per game) for that which to me is not worth $50. Upresing games is not very difficult and most likely, they will put minimal effort into it since Mario Galaxy already looks pretty damn perfect as it is. Yes, going from 480p to 1080p will improve the look but it wont improve it enough to justify the $50 price tag imo. And they won't get the same treatment as WWHD cause WW had lots of areas where the visuals could be improved other than just the res where as Mario Galaxy, the most they will probably do is just upres it and maybe add some AA cause it looks pretty damn great as it is

Keep them and make them sell well.

They could put Ryu into Smash to help promote, for example.  Oh who cares just buy them Nintendo! =D

Honestly, i don't agree with Wii HD remasters, since WiiU can already play those games anyway.

If they are going to remake/remaster something, it needs to be GameCube games.
