I think it was. Nintendo doesn't have a hack n slash game and they probably looked at God Of War's sales and Platinum's experience in making good games and published Bayonetta 2. There is no other reason why I see them funding Bayonetta 2. MS also tried it with Ryse and it failed and Sony didn't have a God Of War even announced on PS4 so Nintendo saw the oppurtunity and decided to publish Bayonetta 2 and get the hack n slash crowd on its console.

Why does Nintendo need an answer to God of War? When I think of Wii U, the last thing on my mind is getting a GoW fix.

Nah. They simply wanted a more round library and it was their way of having a great, mature exclusive without having to make it themselves.

Bayoneta 2 was funded because nintendo wanted to prove the WiiU was going to be more dedicated to the hardcore audience than the Wii.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

I don't think Nintendo cares about God of War.

No because it's Platinums best thing.

Also, Bayonetta > God of War. GoW doesn't even appeal to me since it's over-blooded and mythology. Bayonetta appealed to me every since I saw it in 2013.

It was founded because it was an easy opportunity. Nintendo had a good relationship with Platinum (remember MadWorld, the first Platinum game was released on Wii, plus Platinum had been working with Nintendo on Wonderfull 101 already), when Sega refused to publish Bayo2 Nintendo helped them in return of having a rare high-quality title released on their console.

Because great games HAVE to have groundbreaking graphics.

Also, this game wouldn't have existed without Nintendo, so they didn't "ruin" anything.

Nintendo wanted a brillian action game with a hardcore mature look, and that´s what they have (best action game ever imo). It´s a great way to be on the public eyes, and even if wasn´t succed on selling consoles, there´s tons of people that stop laughing of Wii U in the exact moment that 90% of the reviews put it like the new God (Godess) of the action videogames, WiiU earned a lot of respect from the public opinion since Bayo2 was launched.

This is not the answer to GOW, this is a very smart movement to make even the people without interest on Nintendo games turn their heads and look at WiiU, but obviously, that is not enough.
