Forums - Nintendo Discussion - So is Captain Toad a Success and is there possibilities of a sequal?

Yes I consider it a success. I think it'll break a million lifetime which is great considering the install base. It also has amiibo support and I predict DLC. The sequel does have other avenues it can take that the first did not. 4 player Co op for example. Other things could be added too. I hate to say it but I probably would have loved a online competitive mode where you throw turnips at each other while trying to take the power star.

You know the game is a success once you don´t see 50 pages on 30 minutes in this thread. Everyone cares about the flops on WiiU, but sucess? Only the console owners cares.

It's a success, but I  don't think a game like Captain Toad really needs a sequel!

I'm surprised it has sold this well at retail, with the new Toad amiibo bundle coming it'll probably get some decent legs as well. We'll probably get some extra levels through amiibo and maybe an extra book through DLC but I don't see a sequel appearing on Wii U.

I do expect a 3DS game though, with a discount for people who have the Wii U version.

That's not a success. And although it might have been fun, I don't think it deserves a sequel right now.

its a budget game that probably took at least a few million dollars to make so i'm pretty sure its a success

i would be shocked if nintendo needed more than 5 m to make the game..

I'd say so. A lower price point can do wonders sometimes. See Sniper Ghost Warrior.

Still boggles my mind that Nintendo thought selling games for 60 bucks is a good idea.  Even more irritating to me is that Ubisoft whines about a million or so sold ZombiU's even tho third party launch titles on WiiU were 70€!  Idiots lol.

DLC with co-op and a track editor and amiibo support......and new3DS port and a mobile port.

That's true as well. Yeah I guess it was semi succesful. It would be profitable but it could have sold more.

"Sequel" not "Sequal". You misspelled it twice so I'm assuming it wasn't a mistake.

It was definitely a success, but i doubt there will be a sequal... though i think a sequel is guaranteed.

No sequal but yes to a sequel?

I'm very hopeful for a DLC book. What I wanna know is how much a DLC book would cost though. Maybe $8? I'm thinking that $10 would probably be pushing it for a budget title.
