Forums - Gaming Discussion - Nintendo of America Comments on Lack of Charger with New 3DS XL in North America

That might add a possible $2 to the price tag at most. I don't see why they wouldn't include it...

Nah sounds like a cop out to me.

Eh, to me this just proves they're trying to market the New 3DS to people who already have a 3DS, rather than making attempts to expand their fanbase. There are probably going to be a lot of annoyed parents who didn't realize the charger was separate, and will have kids complaining about the system being dead.

Terrible reason is terrible

Yeah it will definetly save me some money.
Here in Australia, the new 3DS XL cost round $250.
While the charger cost $15

I could just use that $15 to buy like an Amiibo =D

I dislike the trend in electronics to attempt to skip out on chargers. Many things now will only include a usb cord for charging but no wall plug.

They do this to simplify the multi-region distribution plus accessories always have big margins and profits.

With the 3DS its less of an issue as so many do own a previous system, but if you want to sell your old console after you upgrade, then you're forced to buy a new charger. In reality, you can get them for like $5 off of Nintendo's site, ebay, or other sites. So meh in this particular case.

Lol. Even Nintendo knows that the most people who will buy it already own a 3DS^^

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

So basically they're packaging it for people upgrading, not for people new to the console. People who've never owned a DSi/3DS are being told, by Nintendo themselves, to f-off. And then they'll tout their numbers and pretend that all of those sales are an expanding market.

Well one thing I will say is that originally when the Limited 3DS XL ALBW Edition was announced in NA, it was said it didn't include a charger either. Maybe Ninty will change their minds last minute...? (I hope they do... will help out anybody else who's new in getting a N3DS)

As for me it means Jack Shit... My household has 4 3DSes here anyway...

That's a horrible reason.
