Forums - Nintendo Discussion - The Wii U drought 2K15, who is to blame this year?

there's nothing looking sparse so far. there's like 4 or 5 games for the first half of the year, we're just waiting for dates.

Theres a drought? Have I been that engrossed in Persona Q to realize it?

"I think it will be the HDS"-Me in regards to Nintendo's next handheld.

The consumer, for not purchasing third party games like ZombiU. Had there been more support, we could see things like Resident Evil HD or such on WiiU as well to fight the drought.

zombi U sold better than most new franchises, just saying. nintendo fans made as much effort as 3rd parties did with their support.

resident evil in particular had all the reasons to be on wii u.

you cant be serious? its nintendos job to provid a product that the consumers want. consumers shouldnt be forced to buy something they dont like, so they can get more of that something they dont like.

again, its nintendos job to ensure that their product is desirable.

There are 8million Wii Us out there now.

you dont need every game to sell 8milllion to make a profit. If games bought games hell even 1-2million of them then 3rd parties would also stick around.

Look when PS4 launched it had ZERO userbase gamers bought the system and also supported the games. They didn't go out and just buy Sony 1st party games.

wii u owners also supported the games. they didn't go out and just bought nintendo 1st party games.

But it's a flawed comparison when sony doesn't have many 1st party games and ps4 had tons of games announced before launch (that skipped wii u for no reason). And the games supported by ps4 owners at launch were limited to EA/UBISOFT/WB, mostly yearly releases.

ZombiU sold much less than expected for such a quality game. Probably one of WiiU's best games, and it hasn't break a million.

Capcom just took a note and decided not to put Resident Evil on WiiU in fear of bad sales!

Not all droughts are created equal. It's not just about total number or frequency of game releases. It's about desirability. PS4 had, what, over 100 games in 2014? I bought two. Wii U had less than half that number, probably, but I bought or received a half dozen. A "drought" can come in many shapes and sizes.

Anyway, this is all a moot point. It's January 11th. There is no drought as of now. You're free to speculate, but no one can be blamed for an imaginary thing.

Blame yourself for liking Nintendo games. Youaare addicted.

revelations sold over half of the x360 version even with the huge difference in installed bases. revelations 2/RE HD were obvious choices to wii u, especially since they woouldn't be late 3ds ports releasing on a 2.5m base, like revelations.plus the history of nintendo fans buying RE games.

See, Revelations 2 is taking a much more zombie/the evil within approach with its design, unlike the aquatic monsters of the original Revelations game, which are totally different monsters. That, combined with the fact that ZombiU sold poorly because WiiU owners don't like zombies is why Revelations 2 is also skipping WiiU!

Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Yoshi's Whooly World
Splatoon
Mario Party 10
Devil's Third
Mario Maker
Star Fox
The Legend of Zelda
Xenoblade Chronicles X

that's 9 first-party games that Nintendo has promised will release this year. There are also third-party games like Mighty no 9 and Shantae Half-Genie Hero. Might not as many games coming other plattforms, but it is still a lot and most of them are exclusive

And if only half of these games appeal to you, you are down to 5 - 6 games for the whole year (not every game appeals to every console owner).

Good enough if the WiiU is your secondary or tertiary system, but a bit sparse if it is your only system.
