I agree with you on a lot of levels. PS2 gen was the greatest ever IMO, and it was because there was one dominate console. Thanks to that Sony was able to try out many new franchises, 3rd parties were able to build some of the best games as they only had to focus on one platform. Sony was also able to do things like motion gaming with the Eye Toy, and best of all, towards the end of the generation they lowered all first party games from $49.99 to $39.99, and even some third parties followed suit.
I also loved the attitude of Sony back then as well. The difference now is that Sony is in a completley different place. Back then they were profitable, and the stocks were twice to three times what they are today. It would have been great if MS had thrown out this $349.99 price only for Sony to knock them out with a $299.99 holiday special. Unfortunalty I don't think the share holders that saw a 1 Billion dollar loss and no dividends last quarter would be pleased, and it could have lead to major issues.
As for whether Microsofts all out desperation event will carry momentum going forward. Only time can tell. I think PS4 has a lot of good things going for it this year, and I hope the CES Keynote today will bring even more. With PlayStation Now getting into full gear this year, PlayStation Vue finally brining IPTV to the US, and a list of exlusive games that greatly outpaces the competition hopefully our US brothers will see beyond the price tags and marketing and choose the better console.
Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
