Against but we do need a war to thin out the population.

So maybe for for a short time.

I'm with it as long as it is controllable, because the benefits are very well existing.

We will all long be dead, but if AI keeps on progressing and research won't stop at some point (it won't), humanity will lose to AI.
Humans think too high of themselves if they believe that they can control something that is mightier than themselves just because they made it.

Thats a problem though because the moment you realise its not controllable, its going to be too late.

Dont forget that AI may also possess characteristics like lying, bluffing, acting dumb and so on.

Yes, that's the problem. AI would have to be limited to that sweet spot where it won't be able to mimic those characteristics and use it against us.
But I don't think that research would stop there, because research is funded by those who only care about profits and not the negative longtime consequences.

I doubt that there will ever be "true" AI. It will only be simulated consciousness, not truly autonomous consciousness.

We won't be able to produce incontrollabe AI that is more intelligent than humans in my opinion, but let's not forget that all technological advancements have positive and negative consequences. We can't simply prevent the negatives ones with rules, there's usually no going back as soon as the technology exists. The AI research has to be careful and think about possible consequeces. But it's oftenly financed by companies that only care about their own profits.

Only to benefit humanity and to make sure that AI never reaches a level where it can feel alive, that's when things get dangerous. Also sorry but this is in the wrong section.

The question is will the bugs in their software kill us or save us from an uprising.

You ever seen terminator? Or Matrix? That is going to happen.

Low to mid AI is fine, but highly intelligent AI will begin to question itself and will come to conclusions that could devastate life.

A being that can think but not feel will have to problems ending life.

The thing is too that humans are clearly the biggest harm to this planet, we're stupidly destroying earth when we could be easily making it a better place for everyone. But if we have the idea of repopulating other planets with people and an AI could understand that there's potentially millions of planet out in space that we could go to it can help us move on instead focusing just on just earth.
