Why is Driveclub so high? Were there deals on it or something?

Every week you guys ask the same question.... The game is bundled

Also, from the article...

" A price cut for PS4 exclusive ‘Driveclub’ (+24%) propels the title back into the Top 10 at No7"

Yep XB1 doing super well too. Was always going to do well here in the UK.

Yeah, and to think the narrative before these two consoles launched was 'consoles are dead'.

nobody said that

but consoles this gen will sell tens of millions less than last gen, worldwide combined. you disagree?

Agree. The PS4 will sell better than the PS3, The X1 will come close to 360 but because Wii U is doing poorly, we will see a decrease in console sales. The mobile gaming market was always going to hit Wii U the hardest.

And PS4 domination continues in UK.

Having 2 more games in the charts than X1 is hardly "domination".

I think it's more about that the multiplats all are selling better on the PS4 accept Unity for obvious reasons.

Incredible.

So break it down for me....

You have 270m colsoles to divide up between the PS4, Xbox One and WiiU

Go!

I just think it's far too early to call, that's all. Are you always this aggressive?

He's right though. Even if the PS4 and X1 sell 100M each, can you see the Wii U selling 70M.

And this is using the optimistic numbers for the X1 and PS4.

So we certainly can' celebrate x1 victory in november usa after losing 10 straight months right?

I also think we will see a decretasse this gen as ps4 won't hit 200M for x1 50M and WiiU 20M .

is it just a round of jokes for you today...?

it may have sneaked this week after a 7 week losing streak I think you meant to say.

As if vgchartz tracking methods are even remotely accurate enough to call the last 2 weeks an actual win for the X1 and not a statistical tie, especially since GFK charts of the last 2 weeks already looked like the PS4 might have been on top.

Not to mention that MCV said nothing of HW sales the past 2 weeks, which most likely means that the PS4 took those weeks, since they seem to ALWAYS say something when the XBO is on top.  To me it seems PS4 is taking its gap back.  Was bound to happen, though, since they are around the same price in UK.  Kinda points to things to come in the US when the XBO price goes back to $399.

@ OP

Glad Driveclub got its groove back.  Seems like a really good game.  I also find it funny that people are always bringing up bundles, as if the Driveclub bundle is the only one in the UK.  Of course, if they want to assume that the vast majority of Driveclub sales are bundles, then I guess that means that with the GTA5 and Driveclub bundles the PS4 is really kicking ass.

After the update driveclub has become a good game.

And the main reason: Heavily bundled.

As you keep saying. However none of the main xmas bargain ps4 deals included drive club after black friday so it would seem you keep spouting that rhetoeic unfounded.

The Last of Us, Far Cry 4 and GTA 5 were the main bundle fodder in the run up to Christmas. Little Big Planet 3 was also far more prevalent in bundling too.

The only reason anyone would have got the Drive Club pack in December would have been um... Well if they wanted Drive Club with it.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Drive Club is currently priced at £25 here in the UK, and is sold out at the 2 GAME stores that I've been too (Rochdale and Bury), so it's no wonder that it's high up the charts, and imo deserved.

It also shows how proper pricing of games can help a lot IMO, as LBP and DC have shot up the charts since they've been priced more reasonably at 35 and 25 quid respectively, which is what new released should be priced at IMO, none of this 50 quid bollox. Very few games should be priced this, and even fewer deserve to be bought at this price.

He's right though. Even if the PS4 and X1 sell 100M each, can you see the Wii U selling 70M.

And this is using the optimistic numbers for the X1 and PS4.

Well, of course he's right.  The Wii brought in people who weren't even gamers.  A LOT bought it just for Wii Sports and/or Wii Fit.  Of course, those same people grew tired of it after a few years and the mainstream public lost interest in it about mid-gen.  Hence the reason many Nintendo fans were predicting it to take over the PS2's Best Selling Console title, when, in the end, it fell WAY short of it.  Didn't even pass the PS1's 102.5M.  Those people are gone, probably moved on to tablets or just stopped gaming altogether.

So, this gen we're going to move to numbers closer to Gen 6.  Of course, giving the natural growth of the industry, it will be a little larger than those numbers.  Gen 6 was PS2 (~160M)+Xbox(~24M)+GC(~22M) = 206M.  I'm guessing for final numbers we should get something like: PS4(~130M)+XBO(~60M)+Wii U(~22M) = 212M.

And there's no way the XBO is going to even get close to 100M, let alone the 85M the 360 currently sits at.  Really, the only two markets where it is doing well is NA and the UK.  Thanks to drastic price drops, that has helped them stay ahead of the 360, for now.  Of course, the 360 was a late bloomer, something I doubt the XBO can stay ahead of.  And there's also the fact that during the slow months, the XBO has been performing poorly compared to even the weak start of the 360.

In mainland EU, there is little interest in the XBO, with the PS4 outselling it 3-5:1 in many countries.  This means that the XBO can not even hope to match the 360's EU total of ~25M.  And while Japan wasn't a large market for the 360, it still gave it an extra ~1.7M.  The XBO is going to struggle to make it much past ~250K, so a ~1.45M defecit.

Game (the biggest games retailer as you should know) have had Drive Club in the majority of their bundles. Just look at the main page now. I'm not hating on Drive Club, looks like a great game and will pick up when I get a PS4 but to think that it's at number 7 because of "weather updates" and word of mouth is stretching it.
