No mention about profits from PS Plus IGC? Only seems to mention how many units were downloaded.

Yeah, Steam sounds like the hoarder-oriented crap it is.

Seems like Xbox has the reputation among indie developers it deserves. "Mountain Dew is a direct competitor", having to pay to get the game advertised properly on there, God...

Go Vita go! Publishing on Vita over PS3 is surprising. User base, what's that huh? PS4 and Vita sounds like indie heaven going into the future, especially with the cross buy.

3DS, yup, 3DS rocks. Would like to have heard about the WIiU but know the game isn't on there. Might be the same situation as the Vita, I don't know.

Thanks DanishGamer, this is great.

Just ordered the PS4 version on eBay. Phew! Now, having come back from the ledge, I can comment with a clear mind

First of all, huge credit goes to Provinciano for making such an amazing game almost entirely on his own.

You mean... the $200 physical version?

It was only $100. If I had been smart about it, I could have scored it for $25 >_>

Great analysis. Wasn't expecting so high numbers for the 3ds, which is good to know and I hope it happens not only with this game in particular.
PS indie support has really improved the last 4-5 years, and things sky-rocketed since then, we really love indies. XB it's the opposite though.

Excellent read. I wish more developers are so forthcoming with their sales.
Gives us a good insight into the popularity of PS4 among the indie crowd as well.

me too.  fun stuff to read and maybe it would give some consumers good insight as to why some games/platforms don't release to the consumer's "demand".

Got it on plus at first but now have DX in disc form because I like things as physical as possible (innuendo intended). Though now that I see it going for $200 on ebay...nah I'll save that for years down the line.

Nice. I bought it on the PS Store, and also bought one of the PS4 physical copies, which i'm leaving sealed, since it's so limited.

There was a physical release?! I can't believe I missed it. Retro City is one of my favorite games.

I'll be kicking myself forever over this.

Yeah, they released 2000 copies. It sold out in like a day and a half.

Wait, this game was released on Wii? That's quite silly.

He didn't even mention Wii? Lulz

Anyway, PS uber alles due to store promotions. MS requires hard cash for promotions and the parity clause is a hard sell.

That's because he made exactly 0$ from the Wii version. Nintendo doesn't (or at least didn't use to, don't know if they changed that policy) pay indie developers anything unless their game sells a certain number of copies in a certain amount of time, which RCR obviously didn't.
