Very nice to hear that Vita & 3DS did well for this game.

Excellent read. I wish more developers are so forthcoming with their sales.
Gives us a good insight into the popularity of PS4 among the indie crowd as well.

Nice. I bought it on the PS Store, and also bought one of the PS4 physical copies, which i'm leaving sealed, since it's so limited.

Me too!

As expected, agenda, and agenda and more agendas from this developer.

Released ''slightly'' after the PS version implies around 2 - 3 weeks. The game launched on 360 a whole 3 months after the PS3/V versions... Since game sales practically drop dead after around the 3 months mark, who on earth would bother buying a b-rate indie title 3 months after its launch when they can buy it for cheaper on the PS store.

The developer either has his head both up his arse or Sony's arse.

Which completely explains the reason it sold well on 3DS, even though it was released a full YEAR after all other versions.

Hmm, maybe somebody else suffers from agendas?

There was a physical release?! I can't believe I missed it. Retro City is one of my favorite games.

I'll be kicking myself forever over this.

He didn't even mention Wii? Lulz

Anyway, PS uber alles due to store promotions. MS requires hard cash for promotions and the parity clause is a hard sell.

I'm sorry but the 360 version had many advantages:

"Although the game was released on PlayStation in North America slightly before Xbox, it released on PlayStation in Europe and on 3DS afterwards. Both were more profitable. Additionally, discounted sales on PlayStation and Steam after the Xbox launch alone eclipsed the LTD sales on Xbox 360, meaning that its delay was not a major factor. Additionally, due to an error, it actually launched on Xbox for $5 less than the other platforms, but that didn't give it a leg up either."

Very nice read and awesome of the developer to write that up. Interesting stuff.

The line that jumps out at me is, "getting featured on Xbox is far more difficult than on other platforms (unless you're willing to pay for advertising in hard cash)." One thing Playstation does well is to get the word out about games, which is becoming increasingly important as the market shifts to digital.

Just ordered the PS4 version on eBay. Phew! Now, having come back from the ledge, I can comment with a clear mind

First of all, huge credit goes to Provinciano for making such an amazing game almost entirely on his own.

Second of all, it's really cool that he took the time to analyze the sales of his game, and the market in general. This was a very interesting read. He makes a lot of great points about exclusivity, visibility, and the different platform ecosystems. Very cool stuff.
