Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Club Nintendo...Kind of sucks

It's not an argument anymore to claim that it's free so it doesn't matter, because there's nothing to get anymore. All the real rewards have been removed (in North America) in favor of downloads for VC games, which I have no interest in. That's why it sucks. I have a ton of points with nothing to spend them on. Even the platinum rewards this year weren't anything physical, just a download of a game. Pointless.

It is free cause its a rewards program... You don't buy the game for the rewards, you buy the game cause u want to play it and the rewards that they offer is an additional bonus. Its like if I were to go up to a hooker and pay for sex and after I had sex with that hooker for a certain numer of times, she gives me a free bj afterwards... I am not paying her for that bj nor am I paying to have sex for that bj but since I am a returning customer, she thought of it as a way to reward me for choosing her instead of others. The reason I like her the most is cause of her sexual techiques, not cause of the free bj and if I want more free shit stuff on top of the free bj, then I am just acting like an entitled person cause she didn't need to give me that in the first place cause I never paid her for it to begin with

True, but Still works both ways. If Nintendo did release those JPN soundtracks, and the SNES controller in the US store. I'd buy a lot more games to get them. I wouldn't skipped Wonderful 101 or Pikmin 3, for example. That's how it encourages you to buy more. It is free in that sense. But If they actually gave something worthwild, they get more out of me. Right now I leve my coins just expire. I frankly only register to have the game in my database.

Well, the thing is, I doubt it has that much effect on the consumer's choice for it to matter with Nintendo or really anyone. A consumer for the most part chooses a game based on perference and not cause of the rewards and even if they offered something better, most consumers still wouldn't care. With that being said, Club Nintendo does offer quite a lot of free stuff non the less and considering its a free service, you do get plenty of stuff like the Smash Bros OST or free Hyrule Warriors DLC or free game with MK8 and many more. And not to mention, if you are a premium member or a gold member, you do get exclusive and free items in June of every year that don't affect your points at all and they are usually of high value. On top of that, you do get free digital games and well as physical items that can be resold on ebay for $50+ depending on the item (physical item only obviously). So considering its a free service that doesn't charge u anything but gives you plenty of things for free, I really think all this whining from people is nonsense.

The rewards in the past couple years have been disappointing, which isn't too bad because I didn't buy many Nintendo stuffs lately.

I liked my Mario hat and the plastic figurine set thing.

Been away for a bit, but sneaking back in.

Gaming on: PS4, PC, 3DS. Got a Switch! Mainly to play Smash

I don't see what is wrong with getting free VC games. I don't buy many VC games, but it was definitely nice to get Metroid, Legend of Zelda, etc, etc on my 3DS just for buying games that I would've already bought and taking their quick surveys.

The problem is that the service is not equal to every gamer around the world, so complains are bound to pop up.
For example, no one complains about the ddp since we all get treated alike.

I just did a summary in d21lewis thread; and since 15/09/2007 I've gained 9625 stars.
Only been able to spend 6000 stars exchanged to 1500 in Nintendo points (equivalent to 15 euros).

Nintendo has given me back 2 euros each year.

Just for reference the deluxe digital promotion during these two years, I've gained 2000 points and been given back 20 eur.

Well, thats ur choice but say that if the next Metroid game comes out from Nintendo and its the best metroid game to date... Wouldn't you buy it? Cause I am sure most people would

Actually most people wouldn't. That's the reason why we haven't seen a real Metroid game since 2007. Metroid is definitely a franchise that could benefit from such a deal. Nintendo should only include games in such actions that have already profited a lot. That way Nintendo doesn't lose too much potential money.

Nintendo games aren't really selling that well. DKC: TF is being outpaced by Bayonetta 2...

I love Nintendo games, but Nintendo has never heard of "the customer is king" line. What I do respect a lot is that they always release polished games. And that's why they're still my #1 game developer/publisher.

Well... To me, most people that are whining about a free service just seem pretty entitled cause its a free bonus with no additonal charge. I mean, for people to want more free stuff on top of the free stuff just screams entitlement

Except it's not free stuff, you need to buy games first. Marketing 101: companies lure you with seemingly sweet deals, but in the end the company ends up profiting more then they would have without the deals.

I don't care about entitlement.

You buy games to play games. Or at least the rest of the world does. You may personally buy the games and then throw them in the trash, for all I know. Either way, Club Nintendo is a free rewards program, because you are rewarded with extras. You don't buy games to earn CN coins, you buy games to play games, and you just happen to earn coins in the process. This has been made clear to you at least a dozen times now. There's nothing wrong with being displeased with the program, but you cannot factually make the claim that it is comparable to PS+ or is a paid service. If you're going to keep that as the basis of your argument, then this thread should be locked.

I don't get what the issue is with Club Nintendo... Its a free bonus for buying games on Nintendo platform with no yearly fee... Whats so bad about it?

What do people expect from a free service that gives u more free stuff anyway? I am legit curious :/

The reason why it suck is because they never give away really anything good on the WII U.  I have been a member for about a year and the best I saw was mario 2 for nes.  The games are mainly for the 3ds.  Also last years paltnium was pretty pathetic.

Well what do you expect from a free rewards program? Like seriously? They give you free DLC with Hyrule Warriors, free full priced retail games with MK8, free full priced games in June if you are a gold/platinum member with no cost in terms of points, free OST for smash bros and many more things. They also give you free VC and indie games in a monthly baises and they have many limited edition things from time to time which resell for $50+ on ebay. I mean, what do people expect from a free service that gives u free stuff cause if your expecting like what PS+/Gold gives, guess what, they charge a yearly fee for that and of course, if you don't pay for the subscription service, you get heavly punished for it

Now I'll know who to blame when Nintendo buys Sonic the Hedgehog and ships Sonic + Amy. :p

Not my friends, that's for sure. Now if they start shipping Sonic + Tails, then you can start pointing fingers.
