Thought this would be an interesting topic because before the holidays set in pretty much everyone thought it was a sure bet WiiU would be up this holiday Q YOY, what with Smash, Mario Kart and Amiibo. As it turns out, so far, it's a very close battle.

Japan - Down 237k YOY this Q
US - Up 145k YOY this Q
Europe - Unknown

So just counting US and Japan the WiiU is down this holiday Q 92k YOY.

I voted unsure, I still think they can pull off 550k in Dec NPD, but Japan could be down 100k (more than it is now).

Kinda rests on Europe which I believe is overtracked for WiiU.

It wouldn't surprise me. A lot of SSB buyers probably already owned the system, so at some point hardware boosts become limited and it reaches saturationpoint. It is a quarter sooner than expected though.

Yeah^ Looking at japan and even here in the US, Nintendo didnt push the system at all. It really shows with the value of last years japan holiday bundle vs this years for example. If the had the same this year, japan would be up significantly imo :-/

What was the cause of the high sales in Japan in 2013? As I remember 3D Mario games aren't that popular in Japan and 3D World was the big release last year.

Yeah i reckon down but only because japans home console market isnt great. Nintendo need to advertise much.much more all i see is x1 and ps4.

It didn't matter last years bundle had like 3-4 games and was cheaper. This year WiiU normal priceand mk8 bundled in with added price. It really shows during the weekly sales^

Believe it or not, it was the Wii party U bundle.
