Wedbush Morgan Securities analyst Michael Pachter has heaped praise on Sony’s efforts with the PlayStation 4, saying the format holder is in a great position to dominate the market in 2015 with several major exclusive titles.

Speaking in GameTrailers’ Bonus Round, the ubiquitous analyst commented, “Sony got its s*** together early in the cycle. That’s where Nintendo right now is suffering because they still don’t have the quantity of exclusives to drive the console. Sony has this plan, and it’s peaking early next year, and that’s exactly when you want it to be, so that’s great – it’s really impressive.”

"Normally you expect one [big exclusive] game in the spring, and then one or two more in the fall – but Sony has about six big titles," he added. "It’s probably double what we’ve seen from any of the manufacturers.”

“I’m surprised because I thought that the platform holders wouldn’t take the risk of developing for one console, and they’re taking it. [Worldwide Studios America boss Scott] Rohde’s done a phenomenal job, and [third-party relations gaffer Adam Boyes has] done a phenomenal job. It’s amazing.”

Quizzed whether or not Sony’s done enough to put itself ahead of its leading competitor, Microsoft, Patcher replied:

“I mean, unless somebody just has a brain fart and [the company] screws up, yeah, [the PS4’s] going to stay number one. It’s theirs to lose, how’s that?”

PS4 has sold 13.5 million units since its launch in November 2013. Sony managed to outsell the Xbox One for 10 consecutive months in the U.S. until last month, where Microsoft's aggressive price promotions and bundlesfacilitated an Xbox One sales spike over Thanksgiving.

Pachter is right for once. PS4's lineup is great.

I'm excited for Bloodborne, Uncharted 4, Ratchet and Clank, Persona 5, Wild, No Man's Sky, Until Dawn, Hellblade, Pirate Warriors 3, Dragon Quest Heroes, Drawn to Death Disgaea 5, and probably more that I can't remember right now.

Opp Pachter is now doomed PS4. This guy never is right, almost always wrong, In reality it's like a curse for this guy to say anything nice about a console. I rather he just went back to what ever deep dark cave in which he resides. LOL

I think PS4 has positioned them self great as well, I won't buy a ps4 but I do want to play some Bloodbourne at some point.

pachter is just a total tool. This maybe the rare occasions he is actually right.

I yearn for the day that someone like Pachter who states the obvious gets ignored and stops getting paid, the guy is seriously a goit and only gets money when he states the obvious or makes up shit that people lap up, he's completely useless compared to actual sales figures and other forms of data being formed around the world, he only takes a gander at what's already been formed and stated and repeats the process in roder to get paid, it's completely pointless and really makes me wonder how and why he still gets paid when there are more worthy a person to replace him.

Sony itself does not know why its selling so many consoles so how exactly can Sony "get its shit together" when their console is worse compared to their last console? PS3 was more powerful for its time had free online etc.

Other than price (having a low price for the offered hardware is just normal) I dont see what they did.


Its more like MS fucked up very bad than Sony got its shit together.

Back when he got infamous for his false predictions, there was actually a research that showed he got his predictions right more often than the other people researched. So yeah, it's not that he's bad, it's just he has so much visibility and people tend to remember his bad predictions.
