Had you asked this question in March people would've thought you're crazy for even thinking that TLOU:R could outsell the mighty Titanfall, the game with the biggest hype ever, most awards a game had ever gotten at E3 and Gamescom, the game that would single handidly save the X1...and now it looks like TLOU:R will pretty much outsell it without much of a doubt. Funny how that goes.

For how much people were treating this like a huge game changer the impact it eventually made has been ridiculously miniscule.

Funny thing is very few magazines talked about bug gallore on TF, but DC and the order are massacreted. We had several bashing for TLOUR remake but none for Halo MCC (about how undeserved the release was) and some folks deny media bias.

TLoU R. Bigger install base and exclusivity will help it easily. Plus titanfall community is already dead.

Exactly, and depending on when TLoU2 comes out the first one should have massive legs.

Prediction for console Lifetime sales:

Wii:100-120 million, PS3:80-110 million, 360:70-100 million

[Prediction Made 11/5/2009]

3DS: 65m, PSV: 22m, Wii U: 18-22m, PS4: 80-120m, X1: 35-55m

I gauruntee the PS5 comes out after only 5-6 years after the launch of the PS4.

[Prediction Made 6/18/2014]

Is it possible that TLoU 2 will have a bigger impact than Uncharted 4? TLoU sales are massive for a new IP.

TLOUR has a clear run until at least mid-2016 before it gets a direct sequel. If there is going to be a TF sequel that will be announced at E3 or earlier and probably release early 2016. But for legs TF has a lot of multiplayer FPS games to distract people away from it. Whereas there's really nothing similar to TLOU in the near future to distract people away from it.

Also the PC factor is significant for TF, so that factor doesn't apply to TLOUR.

It's dangerous to say things like that around here! :P

The fact we are having this conversation amazes me. It's crazy to think all Sony needed to do to beat Titanfall was re-release a game from last gen. EA fucked up not making this for the PS4.

Do you even need to ask?
The Last of Us 2 has potential to be the biggest PS4 exclusive game, in the it's whole life.
PS is full of big IP's but at this level was a thing we didn't see happen since the PS1 days.
The Last of Us 2 can be huge, huge! In a level I can't see Uncharted reach.

Dunno if it will happen, but 10M for a new IP is already more than anything Uncharted was able to do. Even more now with so many previous non-PS gamers that jumped to PS4 this gen. Everyone knows about The Last of Us.

You have to consider though that Uncharted saw 3 releases, each one outselling the previous iteration. It's a franchise that's still, as far as we can tell, in a state of growth. Which is remarkable really. It's also a new IP and sold 20m copies last gen. A Theifs End, if it follows the same pattern, and taking into account the shift that's taken place this generation, will probably be collossal, and easily the biggest seller in the series yet.

We don't know (although I suspect its very possible) if TLOU can also show the same level of growth from its sequels.

Also despite how large either one of these games could potentially be, unless PD really make a gargantuan blunder and fail to improve on GT5 and GT6 in a meaningful way, GT7 will probably take the spot as the (single) biggest exclusive game on the PS4.

Titanfall is averaging around 3 - 5 k playing online at any time. Dismal numbers of an online only game. For some reason word of mouth has completely died on this game, despite it being the best FPS game released this year. Nothing will cause the sales to bounce back.

MS missed an opportunity to include this game in its holiday bundle line up. Respawn just jack all in the content updates etc.

TF will be lucky to reach 2.5 mil. TLOU should reach 4 million.

Do you own Titanfall? Is what you say true or is it hearsay? I was told 10k average players on TF and that was before they gave the game away for almost nothing recently.

Last gen aren't consoles anymore. They're outdated pieces of junk.

TLoU will sell 4m+ on PS4. 12-13m+ when combined.
Titanfall will be lucky to reach 3m

I mafe this Lastof us prediction before TLoUR came out in a sales discussion thread and got laughed at pretty hard by a few notable xbox fans, funny how things have a way of working out

When ttf2 releases, ttf1 will stop selling.

When tlou2 releases, tlou:r will get a pretty big boost.
Hell I wouldnt be surprised if it already has outsold ttf with the ps store, digital code bundles and retail.
