The PS4 sells A LOT an is the market leader at the current price, so I see no reason at all in lowering the price this early (and thus lowering your profits). Sony is not interested in a price war.

Sony is focusing on the WW market and that's why it's kicking the crap out of microsoft on world wide sales to consumers. Microsoft still loses badly even if they manage to match sony's world wide sales to consumer every month for all of 2015. The only reason why microsoft won npd in november is because of the $50 off and two free games deal. It can't keep up that deal when it only wins them the states and the uk.

All sony has to do is keep pumping out decent 1st party games and do price cuts in due time. MS is the one that is gonna have to walk on water to turn things around. Good luck with that.

The PS4 was going to sell excellent which it did. Not having a price drop will allow them to make more money which is what they really need over marketshare. Sony's marketshare is still around 50% globally. All is fine, and what really matters really mattered. Peace.

of course it's not.. but losing momemtum to your competitor matters....thus sometimes affecting your sales profit.

Being close to your competitor while demolishing them worldwide is much better for sales profit than risking everything for just one country...

Lol you make usa sound like a very irrelevant country.

Well compared to every country except the US, it kind of is.

True but this thread is about npd usa. not worldwide

Why is everyone obsessed with NPD and not worldwide where it matters? Is it because the Xbox one has no chance of ever beating the PS4 worldwide?

I don't know where this perceived arrogant attitude comes from and why Sony is supposedly arrogant...arrogant for wanting to sell their stuff at the right price? Yes because XBO is the underpowered console here that deserves the price drop. Arrogant for wanting to keep the price but giving many bundles to chose from that offer diversity? I don't understand.

It seems to me that arrogance came in the form of this thread.

They're likely just happy with their current positions. Despite the X1's numerous bundles, promotions, and a $150 cheaper entry price than November 2013, they're still the WW market leader, and still have a stronger foothold in the US than they did at any point last gen. Why would they throw away the extra profits they're making on a price cut they obviously aren't in huge need of yet? Better to see how well the X1 maintains it current momentum, and act according.

Because for some sales and marketshare matter more than being a gamer. Go figure.

Microsoft's desperation won NPD, not Sony's arrogance

See ya in Jan and Feb 2015 NPD.
