Forums - Microsoft Discussion - Halo: MCC Over Tracked On VGchartz

My backing for Halo losing fan interest for the Halo's after 3 is based on more than just comments. Part of my job deals with the YouTube gaming scene. Halo 3 created massive things on social media for the series in terms of youtubers. After that it's presence pretty much died on YouTube.

Bungie jumped off a ship that had Reach-ed (excuse the pun) the crest of a wave. It's been downhill for the series ever since. 680k MCC for November was unthinkable for a lot of people. Including many Halo fans.

People have said Halo is losing relevance since... Halo:ODST. Regardless, the series seems to be doing pretty well. Maybe a YouTube presence isn't always equal to the interest in an IP?

As Blob pointed out, MCC at its core is just a collection of old games. Not necessarily a reflection of how people feel about a true successor.

Even if Halo begins to decline in popularity, oh well. It had a good run.

Was originally hoping for 4 million lifetime, guess I'll lower that to 3 million.

VGC probably attempted to account for bundles, since XBO games do not generally come with disc based games on bundle.

Either way, MCC has obviously sold more than what its shown on NPD. The bundles probably put it at 1 mil in the US easily. On forums, there were just as many people playing the digital copy as the disc based on.

OK.......

Anyway, have anything to say about the real MCC numbers now that we know?

Certainly lower than many expected. Smash Wii U beat it too.

Amazon charts were accurated again in setting the relative position of each game.

Digital sales might have been big, but only 2% drop means that consumers are buying in the same pattern as last year. Deals are probably the reason. I expect to see another monthly basis drop in software revenue in the two digits figures.

I don't see how temporary online problems would have an effect on its legs. It will have pretty strong legs. Especially a year from now.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Really need to figure out digital tracking for NPD, as of this gen none of my game purchases have been tracked since I went all digital.

it's the same for all games. smash would have been bought digtial. GTA 5 PS4 was bought in huge numbers digital. the point is it's over tracked retail and that's what vgchartz track. you can't just add in the digital sales to the games that suit you.
