Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Nintendo reiterates that some amiibo are unlikely to be restocked after selling through initial shipment due to limited shelf space

Destructoid reached out to Nintendo for an official statement regarding the availability of the Marth, Wii Fit Trainer, and Villager amiibo. Rumors recently circulated that these figures will not be restocked in the future. That seemed unlikely following some comments coming from Nintendo of America assistant PR manager David Young, but now there’s definitely a possibility of those sought-after amiibo not returning to retailers.

Here’s the official statement from Nintendo when it comes to restocking amiibo:

Nintendo’s latest statement lines up with a remark from president Satoru Iwata. In late October, he saidthat some amiibo will only launch as “limited-time offers” since space on store shelves is limited.

Open your own warehouse, stock the amiibos, and sell them online-only, problem solved Nintendo.

Dammit. There goes my hope of ever getting them all. And my hope of using them to petition a new game made for less popular IPs by having petitioners buy the appropriate amiibo to show buying intent.

So not being discontinued but the less popular ones will be "replaced" with more popular ones

PC Specs: CPU: 7800X3D || GPU: Strix 4090 || RAM: 32GB DDR5 6000 || Main SSD: WD 2TB SN850

So the rumors were true.

Not if you buy them on release!

"We're not saying some figures are discontinued, we're just saying that some figures won't be continued."

The truth is that if Nintendo has retailers that want to stock all the different Amiibo characters, then by all means they will meet demand. Maybe not the same model, but you'll have many characters continuously available (e.g. you may see variations over time for collectability)

Amiibo fulfills a major goal Nintendo likely has: build popularity of 2nd and 3rd tier mascots

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Luigi.. Also maybe wii fit trainer

That sounds like discontinued to me.
