How was this handled in recent years?

I realize that it's pretty tough to track the sales in that week and would totally understand for them to wait for proper numbers to avoid massive adjustments.

I always find this wording strange.

Certainly I think its reasonable to assume that NPD has a lower margin of error than VGC, particularly on software.

exactly. it's so much fun on here even if the numbers are way off. And then when the official number come it's even more fun if VGchartz got it badly wrong because people end up eating crow. We all live and die by the sword on here so the last thing we want is the charts to die for 3 weeks. 

Sorry was badly worded. That's not a general statement about VGC's numbers. I just mean that VGC will have to gather a lot of credible data for this week to make a good estimate. It's probably harder this week than any other week in the year because you can't really rely on static trends that much. That's why you would need to gather more than usual data(without NPD) to make a confident statement.

I can pretty much sign that. Crazy numbers + crazy adjustments vs one week of exact numbers is a net win for the forum :)

and vgchartz will get way more hits that way. It's a win for ioi from that point as well. Vgchartz has lost a lot of it's credibility on most gaming sites so fuck waiting for the exact numbers. No fun that way and it's not gonna gain the credibility back by waiting for npd.
