Not the best of ideas considering that a lot of Tomb Raider's fanbase is on Playstation and that DE was best on PS4, not to mention it IS going up against Uncharted and being a cross gen multiplat vs a current gen exclusive its going to get decimated.
However, MS really doesn't have any alternatives because they have no real counters, with the exception of Halo 5 which is probably going to have to counter all of the PS4s exclusives at this point.
Personally, I think timed exclusivity is a terrible reason to get a console ESPECIALLY with this embargo buggy release bullshit as of late, why in the hell would you want to get a game first is beyond me.

So I guess its a biggish deal, but I doubt it will have very much payout. To be honest, I'd rather Square get burned for this, and honestly, it doesn't really hurt MS in any way so I'm actually for it. If SE wants to take EA's title from Ubisoft, be my guest.

Yes, a large part that will ignore it if it released alongside UC4. At least now MS fans are more likely to buy it because their are fanboys who buy games purely to support their console of choice and being UC4's main rival they will be there in force. Then come its PS4 release people will have already played UC4 and will be ready to accept RotTR.

Sure for some such as myself who love TR and dont care for UC its a loss but hey with the marketing from MS and the extra cash hopefully it only helps TR grow.

Yes UC4 will win and we all know it, but TR has put itself in a better position now to sell more copies. It really has nothing to do with UC4 sales, Im sure SQEX dont care what UC4 does aslong as RotTR sells above expectations.

That worked so well for Sunset Overdrive. Oh wait..

Good to hear I can buy SO on my PS4 in 6-12 months, I will be their day 1 of course.

Well, since we havn't played neither of those games, who knows, Maybe Tomb Raider will be better than uncharted 4 for all we know. The thing I do hate is that it is a "timed" exclusive which more or less means that the ps fans don't really miss much if SE decides to port it and Uncharted 4 will keep them busy and happy while they wait so to me, "timed" exclusives doesn't make much sense apart from the whole "Blah console users" get to play it earlier than other Blah console users

i got tomb raider free from ps plus. it was a good game but it was too dark from start to finish and just felt like a never ending nightmare. i prefer uncharted where it has it's lighthearted moments as well as dark moments. But the over all standard and quality of uncharted is better.

But you're right MS have a good timed exclusive to fight uncharted with. Pity it was leaked that ps4 will get it the next year.

I thought it was kinda a big deal, until I found out its coming out on 360 too...Uncharted 4 is actually exclusive to the PS4, TR is not exclusive to the X1.

Good point. Although, SE tends to have unrealistic expectations.

Wether the deal is good or not, we will know when the game comes out. If the game ends up beeing a disappointment its a bad deal. If the game ends up beeing awesome, then it will be worth it.

Crystal dynamics has produced the two types of sequals before, so its a toss on the wall afair.

Microsoft is trying to have Rise of Tomb Raider go up against Uncharted 4 with this timed exclusive deal.

I previously had not played the new Tomb Raider game and felt that no Tomb Raider could ever compare to Uncharted. But fast forward this weekend where I played over 20hours and finished Tomb Raider Difinitive Edition. The game is freakin amazing. I hope that the money received from the timed exclusive really helps development of Rise of Tomb Raider and they improve an already great formula.

Rise of The Tomb Raider may not be as epic as Uncharted 4 but Crystal Dynamic does have a franchise that will at least rival Naughty dogs and especially for Xbox One owners they have a title thats comparable to Uncharted 4 next Holiday. Microsoft deal for a timed exclusive now peg PS4's Uncharted 4 vs Xbox One's Rise of the Tomb Raider during Holiday 2015. The deal might only be timed exclusive but as far as Holiday 2015 Rise of the Tomb Raider will be compared to Uncharted 4.

It's a win/win deal for both console owner.... PS4 get a great game after they finished playing Uncharted 4 and Xbox One owners get an improved version of Tomb Raider (extra $$$ for development) that can compare to the PS4's Uncharted during Holiday 2015.

imo HELL TO THE no

i forever hate 3rd party money hatting ( devils 3rd, titanfall and bayoneta 2 are different the devs didnt have enough money to finish )

this is a multi plat game with a bigger following on the ps being cut off , on both sides ihate moneyhatting , especially when the franchise is nown and had already been announced on the other platform

why should we celebrate for xbox one , they were already getting the game

YAYYYYY ps owners nt getting to enjoy the game
